Growing conditions
Red mountain ash can be propagated by seeds, grafts, cuttings. Reproduction by seeds is a very troublesome and not always rewarding business, reproduction by grafting requires certain knowledge and skills, and propagation by cuttings is available to anyone, which often happens.
Planting in the ground can be carried out both in autumn and spring. A planting pit is prepared in a couple of weeks so that the top layer of earth with humus, compost, superphosphate, and wood ash added to it is compacted. For a pit 50 cm deep and 80 by 100 cm in diameter, two buckets of compost or humus, superphosphate 200 grams and wood ash 500 grams are required.
The root collar of the seedling is buried by 4-5 cm. The planted tree is abundantly watered and the trunk circle is mulched.
Rowan care is not difficult. Weeds habitual for the gardener, loosening the soil, watering in the dry season. To give the desired shape to the tree, pruning is required, which is more effective in early spring, before the buds wake up.
Pests and diseases

This small butterfly, with a wingspan of 13 mm, is a vicious enemy of mountain ash and apple trees. If the mountain ash has no fruit, the moth switches its energy to the fruit of the apple trees, giving the apples an unmarketable appearance and a bitter taste.
The caterpillars of the mountain ash moth leave their nutritious shelters at the end of August and immediately remain under the tree for the winter.
