Compared to apple trees, pear seedlings are finicky and start to yield later. There are ways to speed up fruiting

Method 1. Saplings

Nurseries and markets offer seedlings of two to three years of age. They are tall, powerful and seem to bloom faster. In practice, it is better to buy one-year-old pears. They look like twigs, have an unsightly appearance, but they have a small root. When transplanting, the plant takes root better, grows faster, and accordingly enters the fruiting stage earlier.

Method 2. Landing

You need to plant a pear in accordance with the rules: the size of the planting pit is 50-60 cm, the depth is 80-100. The land must contain a sufficient amount of mineral and organic matter. In the first two years, the root system will actively develop, so the conditions for growth should be comfortable. Weak roots will not provide food for the crown, the growth of shoots will be minimal, fruiting will come later.

Method 3. Fertilizers

A sufficient amount of the necessary fertilizers are laid in the planting pit for the pear and mixed with the soil. When digging a hole, you need to select all the land and then create a nutrient mixture. The pit is half filled with fertile soil or soil from the beds.

Then two buckets of compost or humus are poured out, fertilizers are added: 1 tbsp. superphosphate + 3 tbsp. l. ammonium nitrate + 0.5 tbsp. potassium sulfate. For even distribution, everything is mixed with a shovel. The level of the finished soil should not reach the top of the pit by 15-20 cm. After planting the pear, this distance is filled with soil without fertilizers, this will prevent contact with undissolved superphosphate granules, which leads to burns.

Before planting, the roots are necessarily processed: they are kept in Kornevin's solution with the addition of wood ash, dipped in a clay chatterbox. These manipulations help the seedling adapt and take root faster.

Method 4. Variety

The beginning of pear fruiting depends on the variety. Wanting to get early harvests, you need to know the varietal characteristics and make the right choice. A feature of pear trees is a long stage of "maturation", in many varieties it occurs in the period of 10-15 years.

There are selective ultra-fast pears that yield a harvest for 1-2 years after planting, for example, Annushka pear. For acquaintance, I will name the popular varieties and the time of the expected harvest after planting:

• for 3-4 years, the Moldavian Early, Pamyati Yakovlev, Medovaya, Noyabrskaya, Chizhovskaya, Petrovskaya, Rogneda pears begin to bear fruit;

• for 4-5 years - Pushkinskaya, Talgarskaya Beauty, Children's, Sibiryachka;

• for 5-6 years - Williams, Nika, Rossoshanskaya late, Early ripening, Velesa, Duchess;

• for 5-7 years - Fabulous, Treasure;

• for 6-7 years - Bere Bosk, Victoria, Forest Beauty;

• for 7-8 years - Bergamot, Favorite, Limonka;

• for 8-9 years - Bessemyanka, Russian Beauty.

Method 5. Cropping

The pear loves pruning, it stimulates growth, accelerates the fruiting of a young tree and contributes to the formation of a productive crown. Trimming manipulations are carried out regularly, starting from the moment of disembarkation.

After planting, the stem of the seedling is shortened by 25%. This is necessary for the branching of the crown. They also do the same with lateral branches, but shorten them differently: to the first bud. The next year, the top of the central trunk is truncated by 25-30 cm, young growths by 5-8 cm are cut off on the lateral branches. The general view of the crown should resemble a pyramid (the upper branches are shorter than the lower ones). So, in the first two years, pruning is aimed at forming the pear.

From the third year, regular pruning begins: sanitary (spring) and formative (at any warm time, except for winter). Lateral shoots are annually shortened, which leads to the awakening of dormant buds and the appearance of branches. The best time for cutting / shortening activities is considered spring, before the leaf begins to bloom.

Method 6. Top dressing

A sufficient amount of fertilizer is laid in the planting hole, which is enough for 2 years. Starting from the third season, the young pear needs to be stimulated to grow. In the spring, ammonium nitrate 3 tbsp is closed with a rake in the near-trunk circle. l. Until mid-July, with an interval of 2-3 weeks, water the near-trunk circle with urea / urea 2 tbsp. l. + 10 l. In July, a phosphorus-potassium mixture is introduced. Potassium humate is given 3 times:

• during bud break;

• in July;

• in mid-August.

Such feeding helps to build up foliage and shoots. The tree grows strong, quickly enters the fruiting phase. When using humate, follow the instructions on the package.
