In the middle lane, root celery has to be grown through seedlings. In order for a vegetable to grow and ripen, it takes up to six months. And if you do not want to waste time, sowing must be done before the end of February - the first days of March
Features of the preparation of seeds and soil for sowing
Celery, like many other umbelliferae, is difficult to germinate. The reason for this is essential oils, which delay this process. Therefore, it is recommended to rinse the seeds under a stream of sufficiently warm water before sowing and treat them with a growth stimulant. It is also important to pay attention to shelf life. After 2 years from the production date, the seed germination rate drops sharply, and the germination time can take up to 3 weeks.
Since the seeds are small, for friendly seedlings they must be mixed with fine dry sand - this will help to carry out a more even sowing on the soil surface. The seeds are laid out in a container without embedding in the ground. You can also sow on a thin layer of snow.
It is recommended to prepare the soil for sowing in advance. For sowing seeds for seedlings, a nutrient substrate is prepared with the following composition:
• humus - 2 parts;
• sod land - 1 part;
• peat - 1 part.
To make the substrate lighter, looser, add a little coarse sand. You should also add 1 table. a spoonful of ash per 1 kg of soil mixture.
The soil is calcined or watered with a solution of potassium permanganate the day before planting. If there are no drainage holes in the container for planting, you need to remember to arrange a drainage layer with your own hands - the same sand, pebbles or sawdust will help with this.
The seeds distributed in the container are moistened by spraying and covered with transparent film or glass. In order for the seed to sprout, the temperature of the content should not fall below +25 degrees C. You can immediately leave the container in the light without hiding the crops in a dark corner.
As a rule, good fresh seeds germinate in 5-7 days. You can speed up this process by covering the crops with wet gauze. When white "tails" appear, you can sprinkle crops with a thin layer of soil.
Unlike other garden crops, under the cotyledon leaves of the seedlings of which soil is poured so that the seedlings do not stretch too much, experienced gardeners do not recommend doing this with celery. This technique stimulates the appearance of additional roots at the site of the formation of the root crop. And in the future, instead of a neat beard at the bottom of the root crop, celery will be completely covered with unsightly roots.
Picking root celery seedlings
They begin to pick root celery when two true leaves are formed in the seedlings. Transplant cups must have drainage holes. The containers are filled with soil mixture a day or two before the pick and watered with a solution of potassium permanganate. Seedlings should also be watered the day before picking to facilitate their movement from the soil into the fresh soil mixture.
This time, the nutrient substrate is prepared in the following proportions:
• humus - 6 parts;
• sod land - 3 parts;
• sand - 1 part.
The cut seedlings are watered with warm water - a temperature of about +25 degrees C. After that, they need to be provided with a warm place in partial shade so that they take root and take root. Then the seedlings are moved to light. The temperature regime during the day is maintained at +22 degrees C, at night it is reduced to +16 degrees C.
Caring for dive seedlings consists in watering as the earth dries up and feeding. The latter is carried out once every one and a half weeks. Before moving the seedlings into the ground, celery is fertilized 3-4 times. It is advisable to do these procedures in the morning or in the evening. Liquid dressing is applied neatly, at the root.

Beet Root Aphid - A Thunderstorm Of Root Crops
Beet root aphid is an ubiquitous pest that attacks quinoa and other swan plants in addition to beets. It is considered especially dangerous because in a relatively short period of time from May to October, it is capable of giving from eight to ten generations. As a rule, the number of these parasites increases markedly in July and August. The vegetation attacked by them withers and dies, which adversely affects the harvest of long-awaited root crops
