Paradissea is one of the perennial plants, in height this plant can reach from thirty to sixty centimeters. Paradisea is especially appreciated due to its graceful flowers and special unpretentiousness in care.
It is noteworthy that in this genus there are only two species, while in culture only one type of paradisea, namely the lily-shaped paradisseum, was especially widespread. The flowers of this plant are painted in delicate white tones, and purely outwardly, they very much resemble lily flowers. The flowers of this plant are endowed with a very pleasant aroma. Paradisea flowers gather in rare inflorescences - brushes, and the diameter of the flower will not exceed five centimeters. There are about twenty flowers in one inflorescence. It should be noted that young plants will have very few flowers. The flowering of this plant begins in the month of May and lasts until June, the whole bloom of the paradisea is two weeks. Actually, paradisea is an unpretentious plant to care for, and its amazingly beautiful flowering fully redeems all worries about the plant.
Description of the features of care and cultivation of paradisea
It is recommended to plant the Paradisseum either in a sunny place or in a slightly shaded place. When this plant grows in open sunny areas, the flowering of the paradisea will end very quickly. With regard to the choice of soils, well-drained soils will be most preferred, the reaction of which will be neutral or slightly acidic. It should be noted that the plant can grow in poor soils, however, fertile soils remain more preferable.
Throughout the entire flowering period, the plant needs regular watering, but at the same time, in no case should moisture stagnation be allowed. On especially dry and hot days, watering the paradisea needs to be increased very significantly.
Before the flowering of this plant begins, it is required to fertilize with complex mineral fertilizers. As for organic fertilizers, they should be applied even when planting a plant, and besides this, also in the autumn period of time as mulch. As for organic fertilizers, both compost and humus can act in this role. If paradisea is grown on fertile soils, then top dressing is optional.
It should be noted that in one place this plant can grow for quite a long time, gradually forming very lush bushes. It is important to remember that over time, the plant begins to form even more flowers. It is recommended to transplant the plant in the spring period of time even before the onset of the flowering period or after the end of this period. Actually, especially dense plantings of paradisea are most often transplanted, and they also choose a transplant when the flowering of the plant becomes noticeably less abundant.
In the autumn, the ground part of this plant should be cut off. In those regions where especially cold winters are observed, for the winter period of planting time should be covered with spruce branches or dry fallen leaves. In addition, compost mulching can serve as a substitute for such a shelter.
Reproduction of paradisea
Reproduction of this plant can occur by dividing the rhizomes or using seeds. The seeds must be planted on the ridges immediately after they have been harvested. For the winter period, fresh crops should also be covered with spruce branches or any other covering material. It is important to remember that seed growth can take even several years. In the spring, seedlings should be dived, and already in August they are planted in a permanent place.
