Palm tree (lat. Borassus flabellifer) Is a fruit crop belonging to the numerous Palm family.
Description
The palm tree is a woody plant that grows up to twenty meters in height. And if the conditions are especially favorable for its growth, it can stretch up to thirty meters. Each tree is endowed with bluish-greenish leaves and incredibly dense crowns, and their life expectancy almost never exceeds a hundred years. Immediately, as soon as such a palm tree sprouts from the seed, it grows extremely slowly, but as it matures, the intensity of its growth also increases.
Fruits of the palm tree are four to seven centimeters in diameter. Outwardly, they are somewhat reminiscent of coconuts, and on top of them are covered with a rather peculiar husk, which can have either purple or dark red, or almost black color.
Where grows
The palm tree originates from Sri Lanka and from distant India - it is there that it has been cultivated since time immemorial, since in these states it is assigned a colossal economic role.
Application
People consume mainly the fibrous outer layer of the fruit - it is eaten fresh, and also fried or boiled. And the plants make excellent palm sugar from the sweet juice.
However, this plant is mainly used to obtain a very useful drink "Toddy", which is extracted directly from the trunks (by analogy with the well-known birch sap). In Ayurveda, this juice is considered a very effective remedy for the treatment of diseases of the spleen and liver.
The fruits of this culture are very rich in all kinds of trace elements and vitamins - this "richness" makes them an excellent remedy for healing various diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. And their systematic use helps to quickly restore strength after rather serious mental or physical overload.
The rind of the fruit is rich in anthocyanins, making it an incredibly effective prophylactic against cancer (especially breast cancer). Moreover, it will provide invaluable help in curing such ailments.
Until mankind had neither medicine nor a vaccine for the ill-fated chickenpox, the juicy fruits and juice of this palm tree were considered for a long time the only effective medicine against the fever caused by this condition - the sick quickly fell in temperature, and in general, the healing process took place significantly faster.
Regular consumption of such unusual fruits helps to reduce the volume of white discharge in women. In addition, these fruits will serve well with increased acidity of gastric juice, as well as with various digestive problems and constipation.
And the leaves of such a palm tree have been used as paper since ancient times. To make paper, they are dried and cut. Typically, up to four pages of papyrus can be obtained from a single palm leaf.
As for the spiked leaf rods, they make excellent fences. And if you remove the surface parts of the stems, you can get excellent raw materials for weaving ropes.
Not so long ago, this culture began to be used in the cosmetic industry - in the surface parts of the stems and in its leaves, substances that help to close the pores were found.
Contraindications
The fruits of the palm tree do not have any special contraindications, so in this case it will be advisable to focus exclusively on individual intolerance.
