We have many pleasant memories associated with the concept of Shrovetide. This is necessarily a cheerful farewell to the Winter before the onset of Spring, these are indispensable pancakes for Maslenitsa, round dances, dances, jokes, songs, skiing from snow slides, fairs, and, of course, this is the same stuffed carnival, which is first made from scrap materials with their own hands, then symbolically burned at the stake, getting rid of the winter cold and welcoming the onset of warmth.
Shrovetide is so good - that it is one of those friendly and family holidays that can be splendidly spent with friends or loved ones in the country house. Create a carnival with your own hands at your own dacha, so that spring comes together, and the next summer season is fruitful. So, we celebrate Shrovetide in the country and make a stuffed animal with our own hands.
Scarecrow of Maslenitsa with their own hands
A stuffed carnival with your own hands can be made from straw, from the remains of dry grass in the country, leaves. Look also in the country attic for old unnecessary rags, woolen threads, pieces of felt and other fabrics, you can even use old unnecessary greenhouse film from the greenhouse, rags, burlap. Any unnecessary women's clothing should be stuffed with such "insides". Previously, such clothes of huge sizes were specially sewn for the Shrovetide stuffed animal. The huge doll was taken out on several carts into the field and burned at the stake with ritual chants and round dances.
But Shrovetide in the country can be held less pompously and on a large scale. Therefore, a small stuffed carnival will be enough, on whose face you will need to draw (even with coal from a fire or crayons) a muzzle with a mouth, eyes and nose.
The rite of burning a scarecrow for a holiday
A self-made carnival effigy was exhibited in the field. In our case, it can be installed in the middle of a summer cottage. Shrovetide week should end with the burning of a scarecrow on Shrovetide. The scarecrow symbolizes Winter. She is seen off with honors, thanks for the snow that covered the seedlings and our gardens, for the frosts that hardened the gardens and trees, for the snow slides from which it was so fun for the kids to ride in winter and for the clean invigorating winter air in the summer cottage village.
But now the time has come to say goodbye to Winter, so that Spring can boldly enter into its own rights and give the garden land an awakening, and the garden bloom. Because the Scarecrow of Shrovetide is burned in the garden. Young people can jump over this fire, have fun. This is how fun you can spend a holiday like Maslenitsa at your dacha.
