Pandanus veich is grown in nature in tropical Africa, Polynesia and the island of Madagascar. It should be noted that the cultivation of this plant will not be difficult and for this reason even a novice gardener can cope with the cultivation of a plant. It is noteworthy that the plant will need quite a lot of free space, because the plant can reach even one and a half meters in height.
As for the intensity of growth, young plants will form only two to three leaves in one year. However, older plants grow much faster. This plant is perennial and has a very long lifespan.
Care and cultivation of pandanus veichi
As for the temperature regime, in the winter and summer period of time, the plant will need rather high temperatures, namely: about twenty-four to twenty-eight degrees. In winter, the plant can withstand eighteen degrees of heat, but in this case, the pandanus veitch can get sick pretty quickly.
The plant will need at least sixty percent air humidity, for this reason it is recommended to spray twice a day. In winter, the plant pot should not be placed next to heating systems. Plants with very bright leaves require bright but diffused lighting. The duration of such daylight hours should be about eight to ten hours. In this case, the eastern or western windows are more preferable. Those plants whose leaves are green in color are also able to withstand a little shade.
The plant will need the following soil mixture: one part of turf and leafy soil, as well as one part of peat and coarse sand. In addition, the plant will also need drainage. Before you start watering, you should make sure that the topsoil has had time to dry out at least a little. For this reason, it is recommended to water the plant approximately every six to ten weeks. In the winter period, watering should be provided even more rarely. However, the soil should not be allowed to dry out under any circumstances. The plant is not afraid of stagnant moisture, but excessive waterlogging is extremely undesirable.
Pandanus Veichu should be fed three to four times in the spring. In the period from May to October, you will need to fertilize once every two weeks. It is noteworthy that the plant responds extremely positively to organic fertilizing.
Reproduction of pandanus veichi occurs by means of apical or stem cuttings, on which there are deciduous nodes, their length will be about fifteen to twenty centimeters. Such cuttings should be rooted in a mixture consisting of peat and sand. such a mixture with cuttings should be covered with polyethylene, and it is recommended to keep it at a temperature of twenty-six to twenty-eight degrees Celsius.
Young root shoots that have recently been separated from the mother plant are very easy and fairly quick to take root. Root shoots are cut from the mother plant and then rooted in peat and sand. This rooting will take about three to five weeks. As for reproduction by means of seeds, this should be done in February-March in a similar way. Young seeds will germinate after a couple of weeks, while older seeds will germinate within a month or even a month and a half.
