How to raise a house without complicated mechanisms

The popularity of wooden houses is quite high. Unfortunately, the tree is not so durable and the repair of the crown is a frequent occurrence of wooden structures. Knowing the technology of raising the house, this problem is easy to eliminate without the use of special equipment and to repair the house on your own

What kind of house can be raised and why to do it

The environmental friendliness of wooden buildings is known to everyone; it is more comfortable to live in them than in stone ones. But such houses do not last forever, and builders' mistakes are also possible, leading to rotting of the lower part. Repair in this case is impossible without replacing the first crown.

The method of raising the house is used when it is necessary to restore, strengthen or refill the foundation, to convert the columnar to the tape one. You can lift any structure from a bar, a log that has a whole crown. Care must be taken with a compound crown. Difficulties arise in the presence of a full-fledged stove, built on the ground and with a pipe extending to the roof. There are cases when the house does not have a single frame and then the floor and walls will need to be lifted separately.

Preparing the house for the rise

Overhaul of the house with the replacement of the lower part provides for the complete lifting of the box. One-story log buildings and log cottages are not too heavy compared to brick, foam block and stone ones. The owner may well cope on his own and not invite specialists, expensive equipment.

Before the start of an independent ascent, preparatory measures are taken. It is important to protect the structure from negative impacts during lifting. Preparation will prevent possible destruction, help to avoid cracking of the supporting bases during movement. It is also advisable to take out large items, household appliances and furniture. Dismantling the roof and dismantling the glass from the frames is never done.

Eliminate the distortion of the structure and strengthen the walls. For this, metal belts are made from plates. The device is fixed to the nodes with screws / self-tapping screws. Blockhouse, logs are fastened across. It is advisable to cover the entire box with the mount. Difficulties arise if the stove has a foundation installed on the ground under the house. In this case, it is necessary to exclude destruction inside the premises. It will be necessary to dismantle the floor adjacent to the walls of the furnace, ceilings at the exit of the pipe to the roof.

What is needed for lifting

The main tool for raising a house is a jack. You can use any, but it is better to prepare a mechanical one. This unit is preferred to use by experienced craftsmen, as it is more reliable. Carrying capacity is selected in the range of 7-10 tons.

The second thing you need is a wooden beam. Bricks, concrete slabs, cinder blocks will not work. Why exactly a tree? You get the material that is maximally resistant to compression, which will not burst or split at the most crucial moment.

You may need to not only increase the height / raise, but also move the structure to the side. This is also possible, but a little more is required. You will roll the house to any chosen distance and in any direction. This will require logs, the diameter of which must be the same.

Do-it-yourself home lifting technique

The corner of the house is selected from which you will start jacking. Next, create a solid platform for the lifting arms. To do this, cut holes in the base or lay a stable sole of wooden scraps of any shape and length, about 15-20 cm thick, on the leveled ground.

In some cases, the house is raised from the foundation. This is possible if it is made of reinforced concrete beams and there are no signs of destruction. Put the cut timber to the selected lifting points, it will serve as lining.

Two jacks are inserted at an angle (on each side) and raised by 2-3 cm. The slowness of the process guarantees success - this is the golden rule for lifting a house! The separation of a building from the ground is considered the most dangerous moment. Having raised to the required height, place temporary supports corresponding to the resulting opening. Then lower the mechanism until the wall rests on the lining. A similar action takes place in stages with each corner.

When all the corners have gradually risen, start again from the first corner, now you can raise it by 3-5 cm. Repeat this sequence until you reach the desired height. If the length of the wall is long, it is recommended to create supports in the spans between the corners with a step of 1, 5-2 meters, - this will guarantee the stability of the temporary foundation. When the house is raised to the desired level, check the levelness of the floor, the reliability of the supplied supports and start repairing the foundation or worn out elements.
