Wheatgrass creeping is perhaps one of the most unpleasant guests on our site. It grows quickly, takes root well, and spreads in general, it seems, at the speed of light. A couple of months - and a third of the site is already occupied by this harmful plant. He appears quickly, but the struggle with him is a long and troublesome business. It is worth leaving at least a tiny piece of the spine and that's it - it's gone, you'll have to start all over again

Is it possible to get rid of this extremely unpleasant, although very useful from the point of view of traditional medicine, guest without using chemicals on the site? Yes, it is possible. Now I will share with you in several ways.

Method one. Effective, but it takes a lot of time and effort, although it does not require any financial costs, and it is not necessary to water the garden with chemistry - this is a simple selection of roots from the soil. Carefully dig up the plot with a pitchfork, pulling out all the roots from the ground in the process. We put the roots in a bucket or any other container. By the way, please note that it is better to dig it with a pitchfork, and not with a shovel for several reasons. Firstly, in the process of digging with a pitchfork, the roots of wheatgrass are less damaged and it is easier to pull out one long root than to look for pieces in the ground, from which several new plants will later grow. Secondly, trying to dig up an area overgrown with wheatgrass with a shovel is very difficult physically.

Method two… It is based on crushing the rhizomes of creeping wheatgrass, while taking no less time and effort than the first method. The essence of this method consists in crushing the roots by shallow plowing (to a depth of about 15-25 centimeters) or cultivation (using a walk-behind tractor, for example). Yes, the recommendation for crushing the roots may surprise you greatly, because, in fact, then the entire area can be filled even more with this harmful plant. But in fact, after crushing the roots, dormant buds will wake up. Wheatgrass will sprout, of course, a lot. But it will be unrooted, and it will be very easy to pull it out of the ground by the upper green part. At the same time, you will calmly pull out the entire piece of the root, without fear that somewhere in the depths it will break, and new shoots will go from the rest.

It is important in this case not to miss the time when it will be necessary to pull out the wheatgrass, because if you gape a little, the wheatgrass will quickly grow roots for itself, with the help of which it will thoroughly harden in the ground.

Please note that this method is not entirely good. Firstly, it cannot be used often, since with constant cultivation of the soil, its capillary system is destroyed, and microorganisms necessary for fertility die.

Method three … It is similar to the previous one, but with some changes. Firstly, it does not take so much time and effort. Secondly, soil fertility does not deteriorate, but rather improves.

What to do with this method? In the same way as in the previous method, the soil is carefully cultivated or plowed to a shallow depth so that all the roots of the wheatgrass are crushed. And then, on the loosened soil, without removing the roots of the pest plant, we simply plant siderates, choosing those that he does not like the most. These include any cruciferous, buckwheat, and legume mixtures.

The only disadvantage of this method is that it will take time for the green manure to grow, and it will not work to plant seeds in open ground in this area, but the seedlings are quite possible. So you will have time to get rid of wheatgrass and get a harvest. Although I would recommend carrying out the improvement of the site and getting rid of wheatgrass in parts, that is, we get rid of one piece of a harmful plant, in the rest of the site we plant cultivated plants.
