The obvious options for hanging pots are Boston ferns, begonias, fuchsias, ivy, petunias. But it is also worth considering perennials, succulents, tropical, fruit and annual plants. By and large, almost any plant can be chosen for suspended structures. It is important that the stem is not too large and erect.

An excellent solution is to combine indoor plants with suitable outdoor crops. For example, Swedish ivy goes well with ampelous petunia of orange or dark pink shades. Red and purple miscanthus looks spectacular with Creeping Jenny's ground cover grass.

Important preparations

Before hanging the flower arrangement pot, choose the perfect place for it in the garden so that it looks good from different angles. In addition, it is important to pay attention to the following factors:

• Strength of the supporting structure, • Exposure to the sun, shade and wind, • Convenience and accessibility for watering and maintenance.

How much soil is needed for a hanging container? - It depends, first of all, on the volume of the pot itself. But do not hang too large structures - more than 10-14kg.

The support for the hanging container must be secured to the structural elements of the house or building. These are, first of all, beams under a canopy, gazebo, porch or pergola. Note that the container becomes heavier after watering. If you have used a tree, then you will choose that its branches are strong enough for hanging containers. To prevent injury to the bark, be sure to wrap the metal wires in a cloth.

But what if..?

It is necessary to consider the possible extreme conditions in which the hanging flower can fall: strong gusts of wind, heavy rainfall, invasion of pets, too hot sun, etc. It is advisable to avoid hanging pots against the background of light walls, which will increase the effect of sunlight, which is not the best way affect the plant.

Another important factor when placing ampel compositions is the availability and convenience of their location for you, for better care of them. Therefore, do not hang the pots too high or, for example, in the depths of the flower garden. Do not forget about the fact that water can seep from hanging containers after watering, so we do not recommend placing them above a table, seating area or above a walkway.

What to choose?

The success of a hanging garden largely depends on the correct selection of plants. It is better to prefer picky crops to care, watering and climate. The crown shape is suitable in the form of long, creeping stems. Remember that edible crops can also be grown in hanging containers, especially greens: basil, onions, marjoram, oregano, mint, parsley, rosemary, savory, tarragon, thyme, etc.

Suitable for sunny areas: winged tunbergia, calceolaria, euonymus, gatsania, Moorish bindweed, oscularia, isophyllus bell, lanthanum, nasturtium, petunia, purslane, sedum, osteospermum, verbena.

For shady places, it is better to choose: begonias, coleus, ferns, grape ivy, lobelia, tiger lip, nemesia, chlorophytum, saxifrage.

Do not exclude from sight and ampelous vegetables: for example, strawberries or tomatoes.
