The stem of this plant is articulate and almost always it will be erect, it is endowed with opposite bare and articulated branches, and sometimes such a stem can be reddened. Cups of European Salicornia will be slightly thickened under the knot, and are also cylindrical. It is noteworthy that the leaves are completely absent, instead of them short opposite sheaths will be located in the nodes of this plant. The inflorescences of European salicornia will be in the form of rather dense juicy cylindrical spikelets, their length will be equal to one to six centimeters, and the width will be about two to two and a half millimeters. Such inflorescences are located on short legs at the ends of branches and stems. The flowers of European Salicornia will be bisexual, while the upper flower will often be larger, while the lateral leaves are located below the middle, and a kind of triangle is formed. The perianth of this plant is a rhombic scutellum with a hole from which stigmas and stamens will protrude, and the ovary is unilocular. The length of ovoid, upright and short-haired fruits will be about one and a half millimeters.

The flowering of European salicornia occurs in the second half of the summer period, from the end of June to the month of August. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of the Crimea, the Caucasus, Ukraine, Central Asia, the Daursky and Angara-Sayansky regions of Eastern Siberia, the Obsky, Irtyshsky and Verkhnetobolsky regions of Western Siberia, as well as the following regions of the European part of Russia: Dvinsko-Pechora, Zavolzhsky, Nizhnevolzhsky, Volga-Don, Black Sea and Zavolzhsky. For growth, European saltwort prefers saline deposits, sores, wet salt marshes, gypsum-bearing and salty crusts, sea coasts and the shores of salt lakes.

Soleros European is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes flowers, leaves and stems.
