Every summer resident wants to get an excellent harvest of vegetables, fill the bins with quality material. Sometimes ignorance of elementary agrotechnical techniques negates all the efforts spent. Today we will discuss several important points on the path to success

Why are sowing dates so interesting?

Often on the market from buyers you can hear a misconception regarding the timing of planting white cabbage. Many believe that the names: early, late, middle, refer to the timing of planting in the ground. Late varieties (they think) are planted last. It is difficult to convince older people otherwise. Then they wonder why the forks of the Kolobok hybrid grow small.

The gradation of names for cabbage is according to the ripening period. Therefore, for Central Russia, the optimal time for planting seedlings:

• early (from April 25 and practically in several stages until mid-July);

• medium (June 5-15);

• late (May 5-20).

By adhering to this rule, you will always get a good harvest of a healthy vegetable without any problems.

How to get a continuous harvest of cabbage all summer long?

Early cabbage, contrary to popular belief, has a versatile, extended planting and maturation period for finished products. This technique is rarely used. The first harvest ripens at the end of June. There is still a long way to go before picking mid-ripening cabbage. How to fill the gap all summer long?

Prepare seedlings of early varieties at several times with an interval of 10-15 days. Then you won't have to experience a shortage of fresh produce. The next batch is planted in place of the harvested radishes, lettuce, dill.

There is another technique for harvesting a second harvest on early varieties. The main head of cabbage is cut off, leaving a part of the stalk with dormant buds. They take care of the plant, as usual, feeding it occasionally with fertilizer, watering it. Soon, several small, loose, but completely edible forks appear on the stem. As they grow, they are used for food.

Why does white cabbage have many heads instead of one?

There are times when white cabbage ties not one large forks, but several small ones. The reason for this phenomenon is damage to the apical growth point.

There are several factors:

1. Eaten up pests (fleas, cabbage caterpillars, slugs).

2. Birds broke off. Often crows do this in order to harm.

3. Frozen in low spring temperatures. Young leaves are the most sensitive to cold snaps.

4. There is not enough light.

5. Burn when feeding with fertilizers. On sunny days, it is advisable to carry out this process early in the morning or in the evening. Observe the concentration of the solution.

6. Poor quality seeds. There is no growth point. A fork of two leaves forms at the top.

7. Mechanical damage. They touched when transplanting, hilling, weeding.

Why did the white cabbage leaves turn purple?

The reasons for the unusual coloring of the leaves in purple can be:

• stressful situation (transplant);

• lack of basic nutrients (phosphorus, nitrogen);

• violation of the conditions for the cultivation of crops (lack or excess of moisture, low temperature);

• diseases, pests (black leg, cabbage fly larva).

Depending on the factor that caused the staining, urgent measures are taken to correct the situation.

Fertilizers containing the necessary elements are introduced in the form of dressings. Excess water is removed by digging grooves along the beds. Diseased plants are removed by treating the rest with colloidal sulfur. The larvae are destroyed with Iskra.

Correct farming practices return the green color to the leaves over time.

Today there are fewer questions in your notebook. Applying this knowledge in practice, you will gain invaluable experience in growing an excellent harvest of cabbage to the envy of all neighbors.
