Its regular use in food helps to normalize metabolism, reduce blood cholesterol levels, meat is also suitable for the prevention of hypertension and atherosclerosis. Doctors recommend eating rabbit meat for people with diabetes mellitus, with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, with problems of the cardiovascular system, with liver and kidney problems, rabbit meat is hypoallergenic and suitable for people suffering from various kinds of allergies. This meat is also recommended as the first meat complementary food for infants. The digestibility of meat by the body is over 90%.

Since meat is a dietary, as well as a delicacy product, many people prefer to raise rabbits for themselves, on their plots.

Rabbit keeping

In order for the rabbits to grow big and strong, you need to provide them with the most comfortable living conditions. Rabbits are early maturing, multiple animals. The cages should be placed in a dry and warm place, protected from drafts and winds. Often, cages with a mesh or slatted floor are used. These cages facilitate the maintenance of the animals. The cages must be dry and clean. It shouldn't be too humid or too cool. The cells are cleaned daily, and washed as they become dirty. Food and drink are changed in the same way - daily. Males are kept separately from females. By winter, the cells and mother liquors are insulated. The litter in the cages should be dry, frozen or musty litter is strictly prohibited for rabbits as they often enjoy eating straw.

Healthy animals are allowed to mate: females and males. They should be moderately well-nourished, with a shiny skin, energetic. A few weeks before mating, you should increase and diversify the diet of future parents. Offer them hay of dry cereals, oats, mixed feed, potatoes, carrots, as well as fresh twigs. You can pamper rabbits with table scraps. Make sure not to overfeed the animal, otherwise you will not wait for the offspring. Everything should be in moderation. Rabbits four to five months old can be fed 2 times a day, young, pregnant, lactating females eat three times a day. Rabbits are predominantly nocturnal animals. They consume a large percentage of food at night. Therefore, the evening feed should be at 11-12 o'clock in the morning, if you give the evening feed earlier, then by the morning the rabbits will be hungry. Do not forget that there should be about 60% of edible hay, and no more than 40% of grain feed. In the spring, when green grass appears, you should not immediately replace hay with it; during the week, mix fresh grass with the hay, replacing it with an increasing amount of hay. Only then can the hay be completely replaced with grass.

Mating and okrol

Females happen at the age of 5-6 months, this is the optimal age for healthy future offspring. Males are allowed to mate at the age of 7-8 months. Animals must be healthy and well-fed. Weak, emaciated or, conversely, obese, rabbits do not mate. Similarly, closely related rabbits should not happen, that is, rabbits from the same litter, this can lead to weak, defective offspring. The mating cage should be spacious; it is best to start the rabbit on a visit to the male. Keep an eye on the mating and as soon as the case is over, put the female back in the cage. If the male has not happened to the female for a long time, then the first time of fertilization may not be. Do not worry and do not attribute illness to your animal. Wait for the next mating, it will definitely be fruitful. Re-mating is recommended in 5-7 days.

The rabbit's pregnancy lasts about 30 days, give or take a couple of days. Monitor the nutrition of the pregnant female, feed her only high-quality food, not forgetting about fresh grass or awnless hay. With three meals a day, the succulent herb is given during the day. If the conditions of detention change, the rabbit can abort the pregnancy. Adhere to strict feeding rules, do not change the conditions of detention and you will get a beautiful and strong offspring.

Okrol takes place mainly at night. Take care in advance about a warm and comfortable queen cell for the rabbit. The mother liquor should not contain straw as bedding, use sawdust. In the last days of pregnancy, the rabbit should not be disturbed, she should not be frightened, do not touch or irritate her. The duration of labor is about an hour. After giving birth, inspect the mother house for stillborn rabbits, remove. Rabbits are born bald and blind. The female is sucked for up to 8 weeks. By the tenth day from birth, wool appears and their eyes open, at 5-6 weeks, the rabbits begin to crawl out of the nest and learn about the world around them. As soon as the rabbits stop sucking their mother, they are placed in separate cages (males in one, females in another).

In a year, you can get up to 4-5 litters from a female, as a uterus, she is used for 2-3 years, but if the female continues to bring strong and healthy offspring, then it is possible to continue using her as a uterus.
