The end of summer and golden autumn is the hottest time at your beloved dacha. Spending considerable time on the maintenance and restoration of the greenhouse is always justified: the period of ripening of vegetable crops is reduced, and in the northern regions of Russia the greenhouse is the main source of a decent harvest

Hardworking gardeners harvest, pickle and salt vegetables, cook jams and compotes in order to remember the wonderful warm days of the outgoing year on cold winter evenings.

You and I should strengthen the frame, carefully process the tired soil and get rid of insect pests, so that next year our table will be decorated with delicious, healthy and juicy vegetables. So let's start by cleaning the greenhouse. Probably everyone knows that putting things in order in greenhouses means clearing the soil and freeing up the aisles. Sometimes it seems that the soil is clean, but if you look closely, you can see in it a lot of non-germinated seeds, dried roots, the remnants of leaves and stems, as well as harmful pests.

Large plant residues can and should be collected by hand, and in order to prevent the next reproduction of harmful plants, be sure to remove the top layer of soil, about 5-7 cm. An unpleasant and repulsive part of cleaning is the destruction of larvae. It is easy to get rid of bear larvae, you just need to carefully dig up and loosen the soil. And with the larvae of the May beetle, we will have to work hard and sweat. Of course, ideally, you need to sift the soil, and collect harmful insects with our handles, they are very adaptable and tenacious, they are not afraid of digging and winter freezing of the soil. Work with the soil is usually carried out before the first frost, while our land is still soft and susceptible to loosening. Preparing the soil in autumn will make spring work easier, as they say: prepare the sled in summer !!!

Well, now let's start disinfecting the soil. Disinfection will help us to rid the soil of diseases. There are many proven treatments for soil ailments. For example, a spider mite is afraid of sulfur. To defeat the tick, it is enough to fumigate the greenhouse using the proportions: 150 g of sulfur per 1 square meter. If your greenhouse is not infected with a spider mite, you need to carry out simple prophylaxis with a small amount of sulfur, only 50 g is enough.

To significantly increase the effect, all the slots of the greenhouse are hermetically closed and all surfaces are sprayed with this liquid. For your personal safety and health, it is best to use a gas mask or respirator. Do not go into the greenhouse for several days, let the sulfuric waste stand inside, and then ventilate it well.

If you find a keel, dispose of it with a 40% carbation solution, diluting 500 g in 10 liters of water. Further, the soil is watered with a solution made from a watering can during its excavation. Blackleg and rootworm nematode will immediately die from karbofos. Take 90 g of powder and dilute in 10 liters of water. The resulting composition will process 1 square meter of soil. The next step is to dig up the soil so that the soil moistened with karbofos is at the bottom. Remember that all disinfection work done must be carried out in a temperature regime, preferably at least +10 degrees, otherwise the result will be minimal. Some summer residents use folk methods, using an infusion of garlic, mustard or tobacco, adding coniferous extract or ash.

By cultivating the soil in the greenhouse annually and preparing the soil for winter, you are guaranteed to get a harvest for the next season.
