During the first year of parsley's life, a root crop with a root rosette of leaves is formed. During the second year, parsley has reproductive organs, the plant blooms and bears fruit.

Parsley leaves are shiny, green in color, have long petioles - triple- or double-pinned. The rosette can have from fifteen to forty sheets. The parsley root crop can be conical or similar to this shape. The color of the root vegetable is yellow / white, the white pulp has a spicy smell.

Care rules

The soil … Light loamy and sandy loamy loose soils are best suited for parsley. The ideal precursors for the plant are onions, tomatoes and cucumbers.

Watering … Parsley loves light, therefore, with its lack and thickening, spots may appear on the leaves. Drought and excessive moisture are also contraindicated for parsley.

Sowing … Parsley is a cold-resistant plant. Its seeds germinate at a temperature of 3-4 ° C. Seedlings can even tolerate a significant drop in temperature - up to -8-9 ° C. Mature plants of the first year in the presence of snow can successfully overwinter right in the ground and provide early greens for your table.

Since parsley is not afraid of cold weather, it is sown in early spring. Even podzimny sowing is practiced - one and a half to two weeks before the ground freezes. Ea loamy soils parsley is sown to a depth of one and a half to two centimeters, on sandy loam - to a depth of two and a half centimeters. The greatest sowing depth in peat bogs (three and even three and a half centimeters).

Sowing patterns: single-line with 45 cm row spacing, tape two-line and multi-line. You have to wait for seedlings for a long time.

Harvesting … Harvest the root parsley before frost. The foliage is cut off, and the dug roots are stored. You can also consume cut leaves. Parsley can be dried.

Storage … If the cut leaves are stored in cellophane (the bag should not be tightly closed) at a temperature of 0-3 ° C, fresh parsley will delight you for another three to four months after harvest. Its taste and nutritional properties are completely preserved.

Usage … Parsley is incredibly popular in cooking, primarily as a condiment. Fresh herbs are added to hot dishes, soups, side dishes. The plant adds a special flavor and aroma to culinary creations.
