Many people love nuts, some have even heard that they are kind of good for the brain. But nuts are different, they are all useful in their own way and harmful in their own way. For reference, I will mention that from the point of view of botany, only hazelnuts and cashews are related to nuts, but now this is not so important. All fruits that we call nuts have some common health benefits. Nuts contain a lot of protein, which is why nutritionists recommend paying attention to them when switching to a vegetarian diet
Nuts are very high in calories, for which they have always been appreciated by travelers and nomads. They also contain antioxidants that slow down the aging process, and omega-3 fatty acids that reduce the risk of heart disease. All nuts contain many vitamins, micro- and macroelements. Most of the nutrients are stored in nuts for a long time. Naturally, raw nuts are much healthier than roasted or cooked nuts.
So, let's take a look at some of the most common types of nuts
Walnut
It has a beneficial effect on the work of blood vessels that supply the brain, which in turn increases mental capacity. This does not mean, of course, that eating walnuts regularly will make you a genius. But your memory will become much stronger, your thoughts will remain clear longer, you will feel less stress and anxiety, and you will almost certainly not have atherosclerosis. Walnut kernels contain: zinc and manganese, which lower blood sugar levels; iron needed for anemia; tannins, a large amount of fatty acids, more than twenty essential amino acids; vitamins B1 (necessary for the functioning of the nervous system), B2 (ensures the functioning of the immune system) and PP. The use of walnuts has a beneficial effect on male potency, the work of the gastrointestinal tract, and sharpens the senses. Despite all these positive qualities, you should not eat more than 5-7 kernels of this nut per day. Walnut is very high in calories, can cause an allergic reaction, exacerbate skin diseases and inflammation of the tonsils.
Hazelnut
Contains a large amount of easily digestible protein, which allows hazelnuts to practically replace meat for vegetarians. It also contains fats, but there are practically no carbohydrates, therefore, despite its high energy value, it is not very harmful for people who take care of the figure. The B vitamins contained in hazelnuts ensure the work of the cardiovascular system, and vitamin E fights against cancer. Hazelnuts are useful for lactating women, as it promotes milk production, as well as for newborns, since it has a beneficial effect on the digestive system. Hazelnuts help to recover from a serious illness, save from insomnia and nervous tension. The norm per day is 15-20 nucleoli. Overeating can cause allergies.
Cashew
Improves the functioning of the circulatory system. Cashew nuts are very beneficial for diseases of the respiratory system. Cashew paste was used by the Indians to treat gum disease. Cashew contains vitamins of group B, A, E. Possesses antiseptic, antibacterial properties. Like all nuts, cashews are very high in calories. The daily allowance is about 30 grams. Cashews very rarely cause allergies, but still it is better not to overeat with them, there is definitely no benefit from this.
Pistachios
The least nutritious nut, with a high content of amino acids. The substances contained in pistachios promote cell growth and division and protect their walls from destruction. Pistachio also contains vitamins E (has antioxidant properties) and group B. Pistachios contain zeaxanthin and lutein, which strengthen eyesight and help maintain healthy bones and teeth. 30 pistachios contain the same amount of fiber as a bowl of oatmeal. Pistachios soaked in salted water (yes, those delicious, in plastic bags) will do more harm than good. Pistachios can cause allergies, so you shouldn't eat more than a handful of them a day.
In general, to get healthier, eat a handful of a mix of different nuts every day. Take care of yourself and remember - everything is good in moderation.
