At first, I did not understand why my friends liked the garden bathing suit. It seemed to me that the inflorescences, similar to wild buttercups, looked too simple. My opinion changed this summer when I purchased the terry varieties of this flower. They struck me at first sight with their sunny beauty. How does this plant multiply?

For breeding swimsuits, 2 methods are suitable:

1. Vegetative (division of an adult bush).

2. Seed.

Vegetative way

At the age of 5, the bushes are ready for division. If you do not renew the plants, then they lose their decorative appeal: the number of inflorescences decreases, the size becomes smaller.

Swimsuits grow very early, so you should not delay with a transplant. During this period, the land is still quite humid and there is no intense heat. It's time to start vegetative reproduction.

The bushes are dug with a clod of earth, trying not to damage the cord-like roots. With a sharp knife, the rhizome is carefully divided into equal parts. The sections are sprinkled with ash.

The landing site is prepared in advance by adding a sufficient amount of humus, sifted river sand to the garden soil. If possible, high-moor peat, a handful of complex fertilizers, and a glass of wood ash are added per 1 square meter of the ridge. All additional ingredients are thoroughly mixed with the garden soil.

Dig shallow holes. Spill water, plant the plants one at a time with a distance of 40-50 cm between the bushes. Straighten the roots, sprinkle with soil. Compressed from all sides. The base of the bush (growth point) is left on the surface.

At first, the seedlings are shaded a little on sunny days to ensure better survival.

It is sometimes difficult to find free time in the early spring. Nothing bad will happen if you start a swimsuit transplant at the end of August. The main condition is that the plants have time to take root before the onset of stable frosts. For safety reasons, autumn plantings are covered with spruce branches or a layer of sawdust.

Seed method

It is more labor intensive than vegetative. It takes more time to achieve a positive result. Newly obtained seedlings may differ in petal color from the parent specimens. Bushes grown in this way bloom in the second year of life.

Seeds are harvested in early autumn. The maximum germination rate occurs in the first year. In addition, the seed needs mandatory stratification.

It is sown in two ways: in the fall in the beds under the snow or at home.

Let's take a closer look at the second option.

At the end of January, seeds are mixed with an equal amount of sand, wrapped in cloth. Cover with a bag, place in the refrigerator on the uppermost shelf. Moisten the mixture as needed.

After 4 months, they take it out. Sow on the beds less often, embedding in the soil to a depth of 0.7 cm. Moisten, put arcs on top, cover with a piece of film. Constantly maintain humidity inside the shelter. Shoots appear after 3 weeks.

The first feeding is carried out in the phase of two true leaves by Kemira Lux, reducing the dose by half of the norm. After 2 weeks, the procedure is repeated. By the beginning of June, the films are removed, gradually accustoming the plants to changes in air humidity.

All summer, the bushes grow in the seedling bed. As necessary, they are watered with water, weeds are weeded, and the soil is loosened in the aisles. They feed Zdravn 2 times a season with an interval of 1 month. The fertilizer matchbox is diluted in a 10 liter bucket of water.

At the end of August, they are transplanted to a permanent place, setting 40-50 cm between the plants. In the first year, they create an easy shelter for young seedlings. In subsequent seasons, the swimsuit hibernates without insulation.

This year my swimsuit has bloomed for the first time. For more than a month, she delighted me with her bright orange balls. I hope that in 4 years I will be able to create from it a whole clearing with beautiful "suns".
