Azarina (lat. Asarina) - a flowering plant, which is the brightest representative of the Norichnikov family. Asarin was introduced into the culture in 1796.

Description

Azarina is a climbing herb, endowed with rather large tubular flowers, which always have a bright color (they can be either white or blue, pink or lilac). The height of the curly branched stems of asarin, densely covered with small dark green leaves, can reach three meters, and the length of its flowers often exceeds three centimeters. Usually, the flowers appear on the plant in mid-June, and the seeds for its subsequent planting can be harvested with the onset of September.

In the case of early sowing, asarina will bloom from June until the very frost. As a rule, it takes four to five months from the moment of sowing to the start of flowering.

Where grows

Mexico and the central part of the United States are considered to be the homeland of asarin, but now this plant is not difficult to see almost anywhere in the world.

Usage

The most popular in culture is climbing asarina. In general, asarina is grown with equal success both in gardens and as a container crop. It will be an excellent decoration for gardens and terraces, loggias with balconies, as well as fences with gazebos. Asarina is especially suitable for vertical gardening. This plant is also suitable for cutting.

Growing and caring

Azarina is a warm and light-loving culture, growing well in sunny areas that are reliably protected from accidental gusts of wind. And this beauty prefers fertile, well-drained, loamy and neutral soils.

Watering asarin should be plentiful, while in the event of the onset of dry days, watering is additionally increased. Also, about once or twice a week, this plant, which has entered the stage of active growth, must be fertilized. And the soil near it is recommended to be mulched with peat.

The installation of reliable supports will not interfere with the normal development of asarina - its shoots often grow long enough, and during strong gusts of wind they can get tangible damage. If asarin is grown as a room culture, then it should be replanted as it grows.

It is systematically necessary to clean the asarin from weeds and loosen the soil near its bushes in order to get the best air flow. And the reproduction of asarin occurs mainly by seeds - they are sown with the onset of February-March, and closer to mid-May, the plant is moved into open ground, maintaining a distance of about sixty centimeters between the planted specimens. During sowing, the seeds are gently pressed into the soil and sprinkled on top with a small layer of clean sand. By the way, some varieties of asarin can be planted at the very beginning of summer, cultivating them as biennials. And for the winter, a beautiful plant is usually placed either in greenhouses or in rooms in which the temperature does not drop below plus ten degrees.

It is quite permissible to propagate asarin by cuttings - with the onset of spring, cuttings are taken from overwintered bushes, transferred to peat-sandy soil and securely fixed there. And as soon as the plant gives the first young roots, it is transferred to separate pots. In open space, they are placed with the onset of heat.

Diseases asarin tolerates very steadily, but she is terribly afraid of aphids - when these harmful insects appear on the plants, it makes sense to resort to the help of various herbal infusions (from tansy, onion husks, garlic, needles, etc.).
