Cucumbers in a greenhouse: how to care?

Those lucky and craftsmen who have equipped greenhouses on their backyards more often than others can boast of an early and rich harvest. But despite the fact that the conditions for growing in greenhouses are more favorable, there are still some subtleties in this matter, ignorance of which complicates the work of caring for plantings or even leads to loss of harvest

What is useful for a gardener in hardware stores?

After moving the seedlings to the greenhouses, the cucumbers need to be provided with a support along which its shoots will trail. It is customary to tie cucumbers on a twine, but such a trellis as a coarse mesh will greatly facilitate the summer resident's work. Fine knit fabric is not the best option. It is advisable to use a mesh with a side of the hole of at least 10 cm. Then it will be convenient to attach the cucumber vines to it, and the leaves of the plants will feel quite at ease.

The canvas is cut so that its length is sufficient from the attachment to the crossbar above the bed to the ground surface with a margin of another 10-15 centimeters. This is required in order to pull and secure the net, otherwise it will be inconvenient to care for the cucumbers. For these purposes, you can also find devices on the shelves of hardware stores. Look for the right hooks or pick up a thick wire that can be easily shaped.

Another trick that will speed up the work of tying cucumbers is to use not strings for this purpose, but plastic ties in the form of clamps to combine electrical cables and wires into bags. It is faster than knotting, they do not get wet when watering and do not grow moldy. The collar does not need to be tightened tightly. And the net should be pinned with hooks close to the planted plants.

It is not recommended to launch cucumbers and let the vines trail as they please. As the shoot develops, it must be directed upwards and again grabbed to the net with a screed.

How to save yourself from white rot?

Surely every gardener is familiar with the problem of a lack of areas for growing vegetables in a greenhouse. I want to plant as much as possible, but this does not have enough lighting, and the humidity rises in greenhouses. And these are dangerous factors that create favorable conditions for the development of diseases on plants.

Cucumbers love warmth and moisture, but excess will be harmful to them. To prevent this, the greenhouse must be ventilated. In the daytime, you can open both the door and the window. But it is desirable that they are not located opposite each other, and there is no draft in the room. The door is closed at night, but if the temperature permits, then the window can be left open.

Airing does not always save. In a rainy summer, when the humidity outside is not inferior to greenhouse conditions, it is of little use, and pathogens of white rot can settle on the plants. On these days, you need to especially carefully inspect the beds for the presence of foci of the disease and, without regret, cut off such ovaries, leaves, shoots so that they do not spread further.

In addition to trimming the affected areas of the garden, it is required to treat it with fungicides. If the plants are still young and far from harvest, there will be no trouble using chemicals. However, when the lashes are already hung with cucumbers, it must be remembered that with such processing, the crop is not recommended to be collected and eaten for at least 10 days after spraying. Then biological-based fungicides will come to the rescue. After dilution with water, the preparation with a bacterial culture should be allowed to brew.

It is also bad when there is a thickening of the plantings with side shoots. They try to cut off the extra ones so as to leave the already tied cucumbers on them, that is, over the ovary.
