In caring for any plant that grows in a vegetable garden, greenhouse or home, care is needed. Then it will delight the eye with bright green foliage and a bountiful harvest. And in order for the harvest to be larger, you need to know all the nuances and tricks that will help you achieve the best result. Loosening

Do you need regular loosening? Yes, but only during a certain period, namely in the first month after transplanting. If you plant not with seedlings, but with seeds, then this operation is carried out in the same period, but only from the moment the shoots appear. Loosening depth - no more than three centimeters.

Watering

This is one of the most important operations, on which both the amount of the crop and the health of the plant itself depend. Firstly, when watering, be sure to observe the temperature regime - the water should be warm, about 25-26 degrees. Watering greenhouse cucumbers with cool or cold water can lead to trouble - root rot. Secondly, when the weather is not very hot, it is not necessary to water every day, at such a time, two or three times a week is quite enough. In the event that on the street the thermometer exceeds the mark of 27-28 degrees, then be sure to feed the plants with life-giving moisture every day. Thirdly, do not forget that cucumbers are very fond of sprinkling. But water can be poured onto the leaves only if the plant is completely healthy and there are no diseased or yellowed leaves on it. If there are such leaves, they must first be removed, and then this operation should be carried out.

Removing leaves

Be sure to monitor the condition of the cucumber lash and remove any diseased or yellowed leaves in a timely manner. Leaves, under which there is no fruiting, must also be removed. In addition, if the shoot from fruiting is no longer going to bloom, then it is removed entirely, and not just the leaves are cut off. Otherwise, the plant will spend nutrients not on new fruits, but on maintaining life and nourishing an unnecessary shoot.

Top dressing

Add fertilizers to the soil no more than once a week during watering. Can be complex, can be natural organic - of your choice. If the plants are weakened or sick, then the best feeding option in this case is foliar feeding. Through the roots, the diseased plant will practically not receive the necessary nutrients for recovery and further growth, and when feeding through the leaves, 80-90% of the nutrients will be absorbed.

What to do, if

1. If your plants are still affected by such an unpleasant disease as root rot, then treat with urea or a special agent. When spraying, try to ensure that most of the medicine falls on the lower parts of each leaf, because this is where the stomata are located, through which everything gets into the plant. After the treatment, as a preventive measure, under each bush, once every 2-3 weeks, you can pour half a liter of a bright pink solution of potassium permanganate (if you have it in stock).

2. If the cucumbers are bitter, try to find out the reason. The main reasons for the appearance of bitterness in fruits: too hot (often ventilate the greenhouse), too cold (add artificial heating and ventilate less often), there is not enough moisture (water more often).

3. If the fruits are formed incorrectly, for example, most of the cucumbers look like hooks or pears, then this indicates a lack of potassium. Top up with fertilizers containing this nutrient. If the thickening at the point of attachment of the cucumber to the whip, and towards the end it becomes thinner, that is, the pear is the opposite, then there is not enough nitrogen. Just with the next feeding, focus on this element.

Harvesting

Collect cucumbers in the greenhouse at least once every couple of days. In this case, be sure to remove irregularly shaped or diseased fruits. Examine the whips carefully and do not leave technically mature fruits (the only exception is if you need seeds from a particular bush), otherwise the plant will waste nutrients on it, which will negatively affect fertility.
