This plant prefers sunlight for growing, while the degree of soil fertility must be very high. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found in reservoirs and swamps of North America. According to the development cycle, the subulate arrowhead is a perennial. The height of this plant can be about five to forty centimeters.

The root system of the subulate arrowhead will consist of one lobe of fibrous roots, painted in white tones. This plant forms tubers and ground stolons. Reproduction of arrowhead styloid can occur by means of whiskers with young rosettes at the ends, which will rise up from the stem itself. It is noteworthy that this plant will have floating leaves and flowers only in shallow water. At the same time, with a deep planting of the subulate arrowhead, about thirty to eighty centimeters, the plant will form only narrow underwater leaves. Both leaves and flowers of arrowhead subulate are endowed with decorative properties.

The leaves of this plant are most often underwater and ribbon-like, their length can reach forty centimeters, but the width will not exceed half a centimeter. Floating leaves are painted in pale green tones, they are on cylindrical petioles, and their shape can be from linear-lanceolate to ovoid. The peak of decorativeness of the subulate arrowhead falls on the entire season, in particular, this will concern the flowering time. Flowering dates fall on the period from July to August. The flowers of the plant are painted in white tones, and their diameter will only slightly exceed a centimeter. The inflorescences are a buoyant raceme, consisting of about two to seven whorls. The fruits are endowed with wings and a lateral beak, and their diameter can fluctuate between half a centimeter and one and a half centimeters.

Description of the features of care and cultivation of arrowhead subulate

It is recommended to grow this plant in containers, while the planting depth should be about five to eighty centimeters. As for the soil, it must be silty. It is noteworthy that the subulate arrowhead is not endowed with a special degree of resistance to winter temperatures. For this reason, it is recommended to store the plant in the basement for the winter period of time, and besides this, it is also permissible to place the plant in an aquarium, where the temperature regime will be about fifteen to twenty degrees, and the lighting will be very good. It should be noted that the plant can also grow in brackish water.

As for the reproduction of arrowhead styloid, vegetative propagation can occur through the roots, as well as by dividing the rhizomes in the spring.

Arrowhead subulate is recommended for use in small and even mini-reservoirs, as well as in swamps. In addition, quite often this plant is also grown in cold water aquariums.

Actually, there are certain varieties of this plant that are amazingly decorative.
