The common arrowhead is endowed with a thick but short rhizome, which has numerous root lobes and a rosette of leaves. On the long stolons of the common arrowhead, the formation of tubers will occur, which are necessary both for wintering and for reproduction. It is noteworthy that not only flowers, but also the leaves of this plant are endowed with decorative properties.

Arrowhead ordinary has arrow-shaped leaves, the length of which will fluctuate between six and fifteen centimeters, and the width can be about four to twelve centimeters. Floating leaves are colored yellow-green, they are translucent and ribbon-like. It should be noted that leaves of all types can rarely be found on the same plant. The peak of decorativeness of the common arrowhead falls on the entire season, but the plant seems to be especially attractive throughout the entire flowering period. At the same time, the flowering of the common arrowhead will begin in June and will last until August. The flowers of this plant are painted in delicate white tones.

The flowers will consist of three petals, painted in white tones, at the base there is a pink spot and three sepals. It is noteworthy that the flowers can be pollinated by insects. Stamen flowers will be at the very top of the inflorescence, while pistillate flowers are located slightly lower. In diameter, the size of the flowers of an ordinary arrowhead can reach about two centimeters. The inflorescences represent a surface panicle, the height of which will be approximately twenty centimeters - one meter, on such a panicle there are several whorls, each of which will have three flowers. The fruits are quite flattened and endowed with a beak-like outgrowth. Such fruits are arranged spirally and are winged.

Description of the features of care and cultivation of common arrowhead

The planting depth of an ordinary arrowhead should be about thirty centimeters. It is worth noting that the plant is capable of growing at a depth of even up to five meters, but the formation of exclusively underwater leaves will occur. In terrestrial form, the common arrowhead is able to exist only on a damp shore. This plant will require silty soil, and as for planting in the ground, its thickness should be at least thirty centimeters. The common arrowhead is planted exclusively in containers. It is noteworthy that the plant is endowed with high resistance to winter cold snaps.

It should be noted that approximately in the second half of summer this plant will lose all its decorative effect. Reproduction can occur both with the help of seeds and dividing the bush, and by dividing rhizomes, and tubers.
