Description of Ural licorice

The leaves of this plant are complex, odd-pinnate, alternate, they are endowed with five to seven pairs of ovoid sticky and glandular-hairy leaves. The corolla of Ural licorice is painted in whitish-purple tones and is endowed with an elliptical flag. There are only ten stamens of this plant, while nine of them will be fused together. The fruit of the Ural licorice is a transversely sinuous, multi-seeded, sickle-curved, linear-oblong bean. The length of such a bob will be about two to four centimeters, while the width will be equal to five to eight millimeters. The seeds of this plant are brownish in color, smooth and rounded kidney-shaped.
The flowering of Ural licorice occurs in the period from June to July, while the ripening of the fruits will occur from August to September. Under natural conditions, this plant grows in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the south of the European part of Russia, the Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Central Asia and the south of Western Siberia. For growth, Ural licorice prefers thickets of shrubs, floodplains, steppe and meadow areas, beds of drying rivers, banks of irrigation canals and reservoirs, oxbows, as well as depressions and small depressions.
Description of the medicinal properties of the Ural licorice
Ural licorice is endowed with very valuable medicinal properties, while for medicinal purposes it is recommended to use the roots and rhizomes of this plant. The presence of such valuable medicinal properties is recommended to be explained by the content of pectins, sucrose, starch, glucose, tannins, flavonoids, nitrogen-containing compounds and the following organic acids in the roots and rhizomes of this plant: malic, succinic, tartaric, citric, oxalic and fumaric acids.
As for scientific medicine, here preparations based on Ural licorice are used as expectorants and emollients for various respiratory diseases, and are also used for hemorrhoids and chronic constipation. In addition, such drugs are indicated for use as a gentle laxative, as well as an agent that will regulate water-salt metabolism. In a crushed form, the root of this plant is part of various laxatives, breast, anti-hemorrhoidal and gastric preparations.
Preparations based on Ural licorice are low-toxic, they are endowed with antispasmodic, antidote, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, diuretic and anticholinergic effects. Ural licorice extracts, in turn, will exhibit very effective antifibrinolytic and anticoagulant properties.
