Pepper: shaping and leaving

When forming a pepper bush, it will be very appropriate to adhere to the principle of "less is more." Already at the seedling stage, extra flowers appear, unnecessary stepchildren with leaves. And if they are not removed in time, they will slow down the development, in the future - thicken the plant, and as a result, all these factors lead to a decrease in yield. How to form pepper so that the result of your labors will please you as much as possible?

Pepper shaping

Pepper belongs to crops that branch well without pinching the shoots, but require the removal of the ovaries. And already in the seedling pot, when the fork of the stem is formed, the first bud appears between them. It is a pity to part with this first evidence of fruiting ability, but it must be removed. If this is not done, he will begin to draw out the forces of the plant on himself, taking away nutrients from the development of the bush. This delays the period of development, and in our climatic conditions, as a result, it is possible not to wait for the harvest. Or the size and weight of the peppers on the bush will be rather modest.

However, there is an exception to every rule. If you like the variety, it is dear to you, and you want to breed it, then the ovary is left at the fork. This fruit will be of the highest quality, largest, and the seeds are harvested from it. But do not forget that hybrid varieties are not used for home seed production. As a rule, in such offspring there is a splitting of varietal traits, and the result of future crops is disappointing.

The formation of a pepper bush is carried out for almost the entire growing season. And this procedure should always be started from the bottom up one by one along all the stems of the bush. The main rule that must be adhered to is to remove stepchildren whose growth is directed into the bush and those that are formed behind the already outlined ovary.

First of all, excess leaves are removed from the bottom of the bush, which touch the ground, wilted and turned yellow. Also, stepchildren, which are formed in this part of the plant, must be removed - before the fork. Whether you need to delete in the first fork, you already decide for yourself. Well, for further good branching, it is also recommended to remove the ovary at a fork of the second order, then new shoots are more likely to start growing.

Then they run up one fork in the road, carefully examining the flowers and ovaries left by the last time. In their axils, new leaves with future buds could already develop. These babies are pinched off.

Single ovaries, the growth of which is directed to the center, to the stem, do not leave either. Here they will not have enough light, air circulation. And if such fruits show resistance in the form of an escape, the peppers will begin to deform or even grow around them. On average, on a bush with 3-4 stems, no more than 4-5 fruits are left on each. However, you always need to make allowances for the characteristics of the variety.

Pepper care

Pepper is a thermophilic culture and does not like sudden changes in weather conditions. And the leaves help him cope with some of the vagaries of the weather. This also needs to be taken into account when forming bushes. For example, when the days are hot outside, it is better not to bare the bush too much, the leaves help the plant to cope with the increased temperature. In rainy weather, on the contrary, thickening leads to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of diseases.

To help peppers cope with weather extremes, to protect them from heat and rapid evaporation of moisture, it is recommended to mulch the beds. Top dressing with herbal infusion will help to strengthen the bushes. Better to cook this using nettles. If mineral fertilizers are used, they are applied after irrigation with clean water. Soil moistening should be regular. If you have not visited your backyard for a while and the peppers were left unattended, you do not need to immediately water them with plenty of water.
