Not so long ago, the bushes of pepper and eggplant on your site were pleasing to the eye with bright greens, and now they began to deteriorate, becoming covered with various spots. What to do? In fact, it is necessary to take measures based on what caused the staining. And there can be a lot of such reasons. Let's take a look at them

Watering

The most common and common mistake that leads to leaf damage is improper watering. How to determine if there is a lot or little moisture? Consider the spots: if they are yellow-gray, the leaves are dry, then this is a lack of moisture, and if they have a brownish tint, the leaves are drooping, then most likely you have repeatedly poured the plant, which led to root rot and their death. This is often the case on cool, cloudy days when moisture evaporates slowly.

Planting density

Many gardeners, when planting seeds or seedlings in open ground, place plants close to each other, ignoring the norms indicated on the package. As long as the peppers and eggplants are small, this does not give them any discomfort. But as soon as the plants mature, they accordingly need more space, they begin to interfere with each other, to close the “neighbors” from the sun's color. And this will lead to the fact that adult plants will begin to get rid of some of the leaves, the leaves will turn yellow and fall off. Therefore, it is best to still thin out the plantings, giving enough space for stronger plants.

Lack of food

If you irrigate absolutely correctly, there is enough water, and the plant is not flooded, it has enough solar heat and light, then the cause of the appearance of ugly yellow spots on the leaves may be a banal lack of nutrients in the ground. Pay attention to exactly how the leaves deteriorate: after all, in this case, the lowest leaves first begin to turn yellow and crumble. It is difficult to determine "by eye" what exactly is missing in the soil and what needs to be added, so it is best to feed with any complex fertilizer, applying it according to the instructions.

White spots

If white spots appear on the leaves, then this indicates that your plants are sick or they were attacked by pests. Therefore, carefully examine the peppers and eggplants and if you do not find pests, buy special remedies for diseases and carry out the treatment.

Diseases: cucumber mosaic

If spots of a pale yellow color, usually small, appear on the leaves of plants, the leaves are as if lined with an uneven mosaic of spots, then your plants have picked up a rather dangerous virus - cucumber mosaic. Unfortunately, the plants cannot be cured; they must be removed and destroyed immediately. Attention: in no case should such plants be added to the compost heap!

The next year, in order to avoid a repetition of the situation, carry out preventive treatments of pepper and eggplant seedlings after planting them in open ground with any special means. I would recommend not to take risks and not to process folk remedies, although for prevention, some gardeners recommend using soapy water or skim milk.

Tobacco mosaic

Well, let's immediately move on to the next disease, which leads to the formation of a heel - a tobacco mosaic. But in this case, the spots will be bright yellow, located mainly along the most important and largest veins. In these places, the plant dies off first. Then black stripes appear on the stem, the plant stops growing, the fruits do not develop. Just like the cucumber mosaic, this virus is incurable and the plants must be destroyed. By the way, the virus is striking in its vitality and does not die in soil and dry plants up to 50 (!) Years. Therefore, next year, change the place of the beds with peppers and eggplants. It should be as far away from the infected area as possible.

We've covered several reasons for eggplant and pepper stains. But these are not all the reasons, we will continue in the next article.
