We are accustomed to contemplating rose inflorescences in bouquets, in flower beds. Rarely does anyone think about the fact that you can use the petals of this beautiful flower for other purposes
With good care, the bouquet stands in a vase for about a week. In natural nature, each bud lasts 10-15 days. Then the petals fall off, continuing to exude a wonderful scent. It is a pity to throw away such "wealth". Let's try to find a worthy use for them.
Pink tea
To begin with, let's brew aromatic tea with an unusual taste at first glance. For these purposes, fresh petals are suitable (winter tea drinking is carried out with material dried for future use).
Warm up the kettle with boiling water for several minutes. Pour it out. Fall asleep 2 tablespoons of petals, add a glass of hot water not higher than 80-90 degrees. After 10 minutes, the tea is ready. If desired, add additional ingredients: pieces of dried fruit, strawberries, raspberries, currant leaves, lemon balm, thyme or other herbs.
Rose petal tea has many beneficial properties:
• calms the nervous system;
• effectively fights viruses and bacteria with sore throat, inflammation;
• relieves pain in the stomach, intestines;
• improves the work of the heart;
• helps with violation of the cycle in women.
Delicious jam
During school years, my sister and I were fond of cooking. We often leafed through an old book about tasty and healthy food for my grandmother. The rose petal jam recipe caught our attention. The initial material was rosehip inflorescences.
For jam, petals from freshly blossoming buds without pollen and white tips at the base are used.
Half a kilogram of raw materials is finely chopped, mixed with the same amount of sugar. Leave in a cool place for 2 days. Syrup is boiled in another dish. For 1 kg of sugar add the juice of half a lemon, 1 glass of water. Candied petals are dipped into the boiling liquid.
Prepare the jam in one go until the syrup is completely ready (the drop should not spread on a piece of paper). Chill quickly in a cold room or on ice cubes from the freezer. This technique preserves the color and aroma of the finished product. Then it is poured into prepared jars. Put away for storage in the cellar.
Instead of lemon, you can use 3 grams of citric acid powder for the whole mass, added at the end of cooking.
Aroma oil
Bulgaria is the main producer of rose oil. It is obtained by a complex distillation process. At home, create an oil extract (infusion).
Freshly picked rose petals are crushed and stuffed tightly into a dark dish (preferably a thermos). Pour olive oil heated to 45 degrees. Kept in a warm, dark place for 2 weeks. Separate the petals. The finished product is poured into a jar with a tight lid.
The concentration can be increased if desired. By adding a new portion of petals to the strained oil. Repeating the infusion procedure several times.
Rose oil is used for cosmetic and medicinal purposes. It has the following properties:
• wound healing effect;
• softens rough skin of the hands;
• relieves inflammation in the oral cavity;
• strengthens hair, giving it shine;
• rejuvenates, moisturizes the skin of the face;
• treats eye diseases;
• calms the nervous system.
Pink lotion
It is used for removing makeup, toning and cleansing the skin, treating acne.
The composition of the lotion in different combinations includes: fresh rosebud petals, 40% alcohol, water, lemon juice, apple cider vinegar.
Pour 0.5 cups of crushed rose petals with 50 ml of 40% alcohol, add a teaspoon of lemon juice. Insist 2 weeks in a dark place. Filter, dilute with 100 ml of boiled water. Poured into an airtight container. Wipe your face before bed.
Honey, chamomile broth instead of water is used as additional ingredients. Replace lemon juice with apple cider vinegar if desired.
This is just a small part of the homemade products from the “queen of the garden” inflorescences. The list is endless. Be sure to plant rose bushes on your site to enjoy the wonderful aroma and unique beauty all summer long.
