Planting material
It has been cooked in the fall. When harvesting, small and non-standard bulbs of small sizes are selected in a separate box on the site. They are planted no earlier than January. Until this time, such a bow is at rest.
"Samples" grown from seeds larger than 3 cm are able to start growing earlier. They begin to plant it from December.
If there is a need to get a crop in November-December, then the planting material of the previous year's crop is suitable. For these purposes, it is stored in a cool room so that it remains juicy for as long as possible. Multi-nested varieties are used: Bessonovsky, Arzamsky local, Spassky. Fresh - at this time it is at rest and will not grow.
Forcing methods
There are several ways of forcing onions on a feather:
• using soil (fertile soil, humus, peat);
• hydroponics (on nutrient solutions).
Let's consider each of the methods in more detail.
Forcing in the ground
The substrate is stored in bags in the fall. Store in frost to kill potential pests. A week before landing, they are brought into the heat. Spread over boxes, pots, containers with a thickness of at least 5 cm. Spill with a solution of potassium permanganate.
Planting material is prepared. To "push" the plants to grow quickly and harmoniously, the upper part of the bulb is cut off "by the shoulders". Refresh the lower cut in the root area. For 12 hours, soak in a warm solution of potassium permanganate.
They are planted in containers tightly to each other by the bridge method. The upper part is not buried so as not to provoke rotting of the bulb. Cover with foil on top. They are placed in a warm, but not necessarily bright place. The first week the light for the seedlings does not matter. When sprouts appear, the shelter is removed, the boxes are transferred to the windowsill.
In the future, care is reduced to regular watering, fertilizing every 2 weeks with complex fertilizers. Many gardeners habitually use urea. This is a pure nitrogen fertilizer. Do not get carried away with them, so as not to provoke the accumulation of harmful nitrates in the leaves.
Supplementary lighting is required on the northern windows, on cloudy days, with short daylight hours (from November to January). Otherwise, the feather will grow pale green, thin and quickly lodged under its weight. After 30-40 days, the harvest is completely harvested.
Some growers practice selective harvesting. Separate, longest feathers are cut off, leaving the growth point untouched. This method is used to obtain products in a longer time frame.
Hydroponics
The hydroponics method involves growing plants with nutrients dissolved in water, without soil. In this case, the proportions must be strictly normalized so as not to cause the accumulation of elements harmful to the body.
In order to prevent decay of the solution, several tablets of activated carbon are added. An important condition for the correct use of this method is that the bulbs themselves should not touch the water. Only the roots are located there.
The settled water is poured into the pallet. A lattice with a cell of at least 3 cm is placed inside. In each hole they are laid out on the onion with the bottom down. Small doses of a compound fertilizer are added every 2 weeks. After 15 days, plants begin to light up.
Alternatively, an inert material is used as a basis in hydroponics: expanded clay, sawdust, river sand. Bulbs are planted in it close to each other. Many holes are burned at the bottom of the container.
The bottom of the box is in the water. As use progresses, add liquid so that the level does not change. In a month, the harvest is ready.
It is very convenient when all the products are at hand. There is no need to run to the store for fresh vitamins. It is enough to reach out and ecologically clean juicy greens are already on the table.
