1. School years are wonderful

Not a single mother will say that there is an age when she is absolutely calm for a child. Anxiety constantly accompanies parents, and it does not matter when the child is one year old, and when it is five or fifteen. Day after day, the child's life becomes more diverse and gives him more opportunities for self-expression, acquiring new knowledge, finding interesting friends. And if in infancy a mother can keep track of his health and nutrition, then during kindergarten and even more so at school, the child is no longer under her scrutiny.

2. School meals can cause gut problems

Among the common difficulties of a schoolchild can be called a problem with the intestines, in particular constipation.

According to some reports, constipation in children from 4 to 18 years old accounts for up to 25% of visits to a pediatric gastroenterologist. [one]

The most obvious cause of constipation is dietary changes and changes. When a child begins school life, his home-based balanced menu three to six times a day is replaced by snacks at school, "fast food" and the abuse of sweets and soda. Far from strictly maternal control and under the influence of carefree peers, the student eats what he would not be allowed at home.

Other problems can join the wrong food, leading to constipation: increased stress, nervousness, shyness. All this can be exacerbated during the moments of being at school, when the child is faced with many difficulties, starting with school loads and ending with communication with peers.

3. If the child has constipation. Tips for moms

If the child has repeatedly complained of constipation, it is important to provide him with comprehensive assistance. First of all, explain to him the importance of adhering to the diet. This is when you don’t refuse breakfast, take a healthy snack with you, for example, some kind of fruit, you don’t overeat with sweets of the whole world during the break. Even for a shy child, it will not be a shame to eat a juicy apple at school, but a lunchbox with delicious homemade food instead of a bun from the school cafeteria will be a real godsend.

An active child also plays an important role in the treatment of constipation. In daily exercise, it is necessary to include a set of exercises aimed at normalizing the work of the large intestine. As a basis, you can take such a simple set of therapeutic physical exercises to stimulate the intestines [2]:

1. Walking in place, raising your knees high - 20-30 seconds.

2. Starting position - standing, feet shoulder-width apart, tilt forward without bending your knees, reach the floor with your hands. Take the starting position. Repeat 8-10 times.

3. Starting position - standing, feet shoulder-width apart, hands on the belt. Perform a squat, stretch your arms forward, return to starting position. Repeat 3-10 times.

4. Starting position - lying on your back with raised straight legs. Perform movements with the legs, as when riding a bicycle (5-6 movements with each leg). This exercise trains the muscles of the thighs, abdominal muscles, and stimulates blood flow in the abdominal cavity.

5. Starting position - lying on your back. The leg bent at the knee (or both legs) is wrapped with hands and pressed tightly to the stomach, then returned to its original position. This exercise stimulates the intestines, activates blood circulation in the abdominal cavity, and promotes the release of gases in case of flatulence.

6. Starting position - kneeling, with an emphasis on the palms or elbows, the head is lowered. Squat on the buttocks alternately to the left and right sides. Exercise stimulates the intestines, promotes the passage of gases with flatulence.

7. The starting position is the same as in the previous exercise. Alternately straighten and stretch back the legs, bending in the back (5-6 exercises with each leg). Exercise develops the muscles of the buttocks and back, helps to improve the outflow of blood from the pelvic organs.

8. Walking on all fours - 20-30 seconds.

Moreover, these 8 simple exercises should be performed regularly 1 hour before meals or 1-2 after.

If, while observing the diet and activity of the child, constipation recurs, then it's time to turn to professional help, or in other words, to laxatives.

4. We teach the intestines to work correctly

When choosing a laxative, it is important to remember that not all remedies are suitable for children. Therefore, in order to avoid problems, it is important to carefully read the instructions for the drug.

It is important to know that there is a classification that can easily help you choose a laxative according to the age and complexity of the problem.

1.

First type are laxatives that increase the volume of intestinal contents. Usually they contain plant fibers, in other words, it is dietary fiber: plantain seeds and bran. Their peculiarity is that such funds, when they enter the intestine, are able to absorb water, filling it and causing the movement of feces. But it is possible to recommend the use of laxatives of this group only to children over 12 years old, due to the peculiarities of the composition, action and frequency of use (from 3 to 6 times a day). [3]

2.

Second type - laxatives that work by softening feces. This effect is provided by the mineral oils that are part of such products. The effect of this type of laxative is rapid, but regular use is not recommended.

3.

Third type - the so-called irritants, or contact laxatives. Their principle of action is based on irritation of the intestines, as a result of which its motility and contractility are stimulated. The active ingredients in this case are usually castor oil or various plants, for example, senna. However, such remedies are only recommended for occasional rather than permanent stool problems. Moreover, there are serious age restrictions on the use of these laxatives in children. [4] Such experiments are best left for the adult body.

4.

Fourth type - osmotic laxatives that are suitable for children of all ages. One of these "rescuers" in matters of children's constipation is the drug Forlax. It contains a special substance macrogol (also known as polyethylene glycol), which retains water in itself, then conducts it into the stomach and further into the intestine, is not absorbed into the blood and does not irritate the intestinal walls. In addition, Forlax has a physiological principle of action - in other words, it does not rush the intestines to work unnaturally, but adjusts its usual rhythm of work [5]. Another useful property that Forlax possesses is its ability to teach a child's intestines to work independently. So after the correct course intake (and Forlax has a simple and understandable intake and dosage regimen), the intestines are tuned to work naturally for up to 6 months, without using the drug! [6]

Let your student enjoy the pleasant moments of school life, and Forlax will take care of constipation
