Amaranth paniculata (lat. Amaranthus paniculatus) - one of the many representatives of the Amaranth genus of the Amaranth family (Latin Amaranthaceae). Other names are crimson amaranth, crimson beetle, paniculate beetle. The homeland of the species in question is considered to be the eastern and western regions of Asia. Plants are found naturally in the PRC, Mongolia, Korea, Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Turkey and other countries. Quite a common look. Among the numerous varieties, special attention has been won: Gruene Fackel - characterized by undersized plants with rich green inflorescences, enveloping the garden with mystery and mystery, it really has some kind of zest; no less attractive is the Roter Paris variety - it is represented by medium-sized plants (not exceeding 65 cm in height) with thick burgundy inflorescences and rich red foliage, giving the flower garden brightness, it is difficult to pass by it - you want to admire it endlessly.
Also worth noting is the Pygmy Torch variety - it is characterized by low plants with purple inflorescences, which in the process of growth reach a length equal to 40-60 cm. Among the high varieties, one cannot fail to mention the Hot Biscuits variety, it boasts orange-red inflorescences and green foliage - such a duet looks very harmonious and folded. The complete opposite of the latter is the Zwergfachel variety, dwarf plants are formed, but this does not at all affect their decorative effect, because they are decorated with dark red inflorescences.
Application in the garden
Inflorescences of amaranth paniculata are so beautiful that it is difficult to ignore them. Moreover, they fit perfectly into any garden. And they can be used in various flower beds, even rocky gardens. They also fit into the ridges and borders, we are talking about dwarf varieties, of which there are a lot of the species in question. Suitable for crops and for decorating flower beds and mixborders. Tall varieties are good for decorating walls and fences, as well as old (actually, new) outbuildings. Plants look great both singly and in groups. And the latter can be used on the lawn, and there they will look quite appropriate. It is not forbidden to plant paniculate amaranth against the background of tall shrubs (preferably with rich green foliage).
