With the arrival of spring, greenhouses begin to prepare for the upcoming plantings. And although the list of spring work in the greenhouse is considered by many to be small, it is still quite laborious. In order to get a wonderful harvest at the end of the summer cottage, it is important to carry out all the necessary measures, while not missing anything
We put things in order in the greenhouse, carry out the necessary repair work
All residues of weeds, as well as last year's crops, should be eliminated from the greenhouses. All kinds of strings used for tying, as well as the pegs that served as a support, are either disinfected or removed altogether.
If in greenhouses the film coating has overwintered directly on the frame, then a thorough inspection for its integrity will not hurt. All detected damage should be repaired. Not only from the inside, but also from the outside, the greenhouse film covering must be rinsed so that the subsequently planted vegetation can receive sufficient light. The frame, ceiling and all inner walls of the greenhouses are disinfected. In the event that the film was removed from the frame for the winter, all parts of the greenhouse are first processed separately, and only then the film is attached back to the frame.
As for greenhouses coated with glass or polycarbonate, these rather durable structures are also not immune from various types of damage during the winter. Therefore, it will not hurt to take a good look at them either, and all detected damage must be repaired. And only after that the greenhouses are washed and disinfected.
Mandatory sanitation of the greenhouse
Greenhouses can be disinfected in various ways. Often, a solution of slaked lime is used for disinfection, which needs to be walked along the surface of the walls and ceiling, as well as along the frame. To obtain this solution for 10 liters of water, take a pound of copper sulfate and 3 kg of slaked lime.
Sulfur bombs, also known to many, are widely used for disinfection. If in the previous year there were relatively few different pests, then it is enough to take 50 g of sulfur for one cubic meter of the greenhouse. Well, if there were quite a lot of pests, the dosage of sulfur is increased to 150 g. However, despite the fact that this method is quite simple, summer residents using it note that it does not save from pretty boring downy mildew, as well as from destructive bacteriosis and formidable phytophthora. They are also a little confused by the fact that the sulfur dioxide formed during the combustion of sulfur blocks penetrates into the soil, and in considerable doses. And since the soil in greenhouses is almost always non-spillable, all this will subsequently affect the ripening vegetables and greens.
A good way to disinfect greenhouses is the use of all kinds of biological products. For example, a remedy called "Fitop-Flora-S" not only helps to rid vegetation of various fungal diseases, but also perfectly suppresses the growth of pathogenic microflora in the future. For 10 liters of water (it is very important to ensure that it does not contain chlorine), 100 g of this agent is taken to prepare the working solution. Ten liters of working solution should be enough for 30 square meters of surface. A couple of weeks later, the treatment is repeated.
Ways to improve soil fertility
The soil of greenhouses, in comparison with the beds, requires more careful attention, since almost the same crops are planted in greenhouses every year. In this regard, the soil in them must be healed and enriched with various nutrients.
One of the options for increasing soil fertility is a partial replacement of the soil, more precisely, its top layer, which experts advise to replace annually, removing 10 - 20 cm. Instead, the soil purchased for seedlings is filled up. You can prepare a soil mixture yourself, mixing peat, humus, as well as river sand and earth (turf) in a 5: 3: 1: 1 ratio. In order to neutralize the acidic reaction of peat, add 3 kg of lime for each cubic meter of the prepared mixture. This method, of course, is very laborious and quite costly in comparison with the others.
Another option is sowing green manure, the benefits of which have long since ceased to be debated. It is not forbidden to sow watercress, phacelia, vetch, mustard, oats and rye on greenhouse beds. At the fruiting stage of the planted crops, siderates are often sown in the aisles, and in the fall, the harvested ridges are sown with oats or winter rye.
The use of drugs of effective microorganisms, or, as they are also called, EM drugs, will also be effective. Numerous beneficial microorganisms that populate the soil will heal it and significantly improve its structure. Also, such drugs will provide good help in protecting against pests and various diseases, providing an opportunity to collect not only a richer crop, but also environmentally friendly.

Many gardeners and gardeners are familiar with such "greed" in a good sense of the word, when they want to sow many vegetables on seedlings, and at the same time, apart from the daily food, do not forget about the high and beautiful - about flower beds. But how often you have to sacrifice something in order to make way for an extra glass with a flower or a pot with a growing eggplant on the windowsills. Greenhouse structures at their summer cottage have never been surprising. Many vegetable and flower crops are grown under these conditions. However, the construction of such a device requires a lot of labor and financial costs from the owner of the garden.
