Many gardeners and gardeners are familiar with such "greed" in a good sense of the word, when they want to sow many vegetables on seedlings, and at the same time, apart from the daily food, do not forget about the high and beautiful - about flower beds. But how often you have to sacrifice something in order to make way for an extra glass with a flower or a pot with a growing eggplant on the windowsills. In order not to get into such a situation, grow seedlings of your favorite flowers not at home, but on the street - in a greenhouse or in the ground under cover

Take your time planting a thermophilic aster

Astra is one of the most beautiful, vibrant and at the same time not too demanding flowers to care for. However, it is a thermophilic plant. And this is also why it is grown through seedlings. Because during the period when it is time to sow seeds, outside the window, many gardeners are still not warm enough for this. And even if the spring sun warms up, this warmth is deceiving, because the earth can be cold.

But even when the ground has warmed up, in the spring there is a danger of recurrent frosts. And the awakened seeds in the moist cold earth can rot, and the seedlings that appear can freeze. Therefore, it is better to grow asters through seedlings, and sowing is carried out in room conditions.

However, what to do when all the windowsills and other bright places in the home are still occupied by other cultures? In this case, asters can be sown for seedlings in a greenhouse or in beds under a film.

At the same time, there is no need to rush with crops. No need to rush to sow seeds in March. Asters will grow beautifully and have time to grow when the sowing is carried out in April.

Preparing seeds for planting

Experienced growers know that asters are vulnerable to diseases such as fusarium wilting. If the plants are struck by this disease, the flowers will wilt before even having time to dissolve their buds.

Fusarium wilt is a fungal disease. But if you pickle seeds in a fungicide solution before sowing, this does not mean that you will protect your plants. The disease is also transmitted through soil. And along with asters, tomatoes and other vegetable crops also suffer from it. Keep this in mind when sowing flowers for seedlings in garden beds. And before sowing, it is advisable to pickle the soil too.

Water the crops before and after

When sowing aster seeds, you should not bury them too deep in the ground. You can dig a small groove, but only so that when watering, the water does not spread over the soil.

Before sowing, the groove should be abundantly moistened so that there is a supply of moisture in the ground for swelling and germination of seeds. In addition, we do this in order to water too much after planting the seeds with soil, and so that the seeds are not sucked deep into the soil.

It is desirable to cover the seeds with a loose light soil mixture. For example, a universal peat-based soil mixture. This substrate is good for air permeability, retains moisture and at the same time does not form a dense soil crust. Then water the bed with a watering can with a diffuser so that the strong jet of water does not wash away the topsoil that covers the seeds.

After that, the crops are hidden under the covering material. An excellent option is lutrasil. It is a lightweight material that creates a favorable microclimate. And for the straits of the beds, it does not even need to be removed. And when sowing in a greenhouse, the soil dries out quickly. Therefore, it is important to water on time so that the seeds germinate. And lutrasil is an excellent way out so as not to constantly open the garden for this.

If you sowed asters earlier in room conditions, then in April it will also be useful to move containers with seedlings to the greenhouse. So the seedlings will harden and adapt faster when transplanting to a new place.
