Greenhouses can now be found in any summer cottage and garden area. They are essential for growing a variety of crops that cannot be grown outdoors. Often they are represented by a greenhouse that protects a certain area of the earth from external factors (sunlight, precipitation, first frost, and so on). They often grow seedlings or full-fledged plants.

Greenhouse plant specimens usually require more attention and care. Due to the constant use of the greenhouse, a decrease in the quantity of the crop or the quality of the fruits obtained can soon be observed. There may be many reasons for this. Among them, one can single out the accumulation of pathogens in an enclosed space, a favorable area for the reproduction of weeds and pests.

In order for the life and functionality of the greenhouse structure to be higher and better, it must be preserved in order to obtain large volumes of high-quality harvest. Experienced summer residents each year prepare greenhouses for the next season for this purpose.

The optimal time to start preparing greenhouse structures is in the fall. You can perform the procedures after the harvest is harvested. But it is important that at this moment persistent cold does not come yet. In general, greenhouse preparation is divided into three main stages. The first of these is the cleaning of the area and the processing activities in relation to the outside and the frame of the structure. Next, the gardener needs to move on to work inside the greenhouse. This will prepare the adaptation for wintering. It is also necessary to prepare and disinfect the soil inside the greenhouse.

How to prepare the greenhouse area for the next season?

In the autumn period of the year, the preparation of the greenhouse should be started with external cleaning. This is especially true for rainy areas with high humidity. To do this, the area next to the greenhouse must be rid of weeds and debris, all household tools and accessories must be cleaned up. In addition, the instruments need to be repaired and dried if necessary. In winter, they must be located indoors.

In the event that moles or bears are present on the open ground, you should dig a barrier around the greenhouse to a depth of one meter. In this case, the material can be slate, plywood or something else that will prevent pests from penetrating into the structure.

During the summer season, dust accumulation can be observed on the outside of the greenhouse structure. Leaves falling in autumn are often stuck in crevices. All this is a favorable breeding ground for harmful bacteria and diseases. Therefore, the entire greenhouse must be thoroughly cleaned of debris. Further, its outer surface must be rinsed with the help of specialized tools. It is necessary to carry out the treatment with a solution, where three hundred grams of bleach or one hundred grams of copper sulfate is added to ten liters of water. Be sure to carry out all actions with gloves.

The greenhouse in the garden is often covered with a removable film material. It must be dried and removed very carefully. The film is rolled into a roll. Store the material in winter only in a dry place. Before that, you need to inspect the film for damage.

The greenhouse frame is disinfected with special preparations from all sides. Polycarbonate or glass structures are also processed on both sides - inside and outside. To prevent the greenhouse frame from deforming under the weight of the snow, it is necessary to install T-type supports inside the structure. But you can just regularly clean the roof of the greenhouse from snow in winter.

Work inside the greenhouse

The interior of the greenhouse structure must be cleaned of all shelves, boxes, racks and garden tools. Before storing these items, they need to be inspected and, if necessary, repaired. They also need to be thoroughly dried. They are also stored in a closed dry room.

Next, you should extract the tops of the harvested vegetable crops from the greenhouse. Healthy plant debris is good for composting. The rest of the waste must be burned or buried away from the garden.

In the case of a glass or polycarbonate greenhouse structure, it must be inspected for cracks, chips and other defects. If there are any, then they can be sealed with a sealant.
