Rule 4. So that weeds from year to year and throughout the entire summer season do not torment their growth, use selective herbicides. Only the first time you use the chemicals, test them on a small area of the lawn. For the treatment of terraces, paved areas against weeds, non-selective herbicides can be used. But do not damage your cultural plantings with them! Be careful.
Rule 5. Another way to prevent the growth and manifestation of weeds is to enclose the flower garden with a lawn-border and sprinkle the soil with mulch material. It can be decorative bark, crushed stone, small stone, non-woven fabric. Through a layer of such mulch, weeds practically do not move. Moreover, such techniques ennoble the appearance of the color of the flower garden.
Rule 6. Remove from the garden those plants that are susceptible to numerous infectious diseases, and for which you have already spent or will spend a lot of funds and names of chemical treatments for plants against diseases. Pick once and for all those varieties of plants and flowers for the garden that are resistant to diseases and pests common in the area where you live. Either experienced gardeners-neighbors, or even better employees of local biological nurseries that grow seedlings for gardens and summer cottages, can educate you about this. Follow the seed and seedling manufacturer's recommendations on what soil and when to plant the plant, and how to prepare the soil for planting. Thanks to such actions, you will subsequently avoid infection of the plants in your garden.
Rule 7. Decide on hardy, pest- and disease-resistant varieties in your choice of plants. For example, if your area has frosty winters, then pick up plants that are resistant to them, which do not need to be covered for the winter. From trees, shrubs, prefer those whose crown does not need to be cut and trimmed often.
Rule 8. If you are an inexperienced gardener, do not yet tackle breaking a rose garden on a site, an alpine slide, or installing a decorative reservoir. To correctly plan them on the site, build and care for them is within the power of experienced landscape designers and gardeners who have been cultivating their garden for several years. Try to avoid exotic plants that are capricious in care and poorly known to you. Better a classic, easy to care for, a neat garden without pretensions than unkempt chaotic plantings from a number of exotic plants that do not harmonize with each other.
Rule 9. You need to properly spend your strength when working in the garden. For example, do not go out for gardening work immediately after lunch, let the body digest food, and rest. You should not strive to complete the entire volume of work in one day, for which you need to allot time at least 2-3 days. You can always postpone until tomorrow what you didn’t have time to do today, let your body sleep at night, rest, and the next day with vigor to complete what you started. Try to work on flower beds, the lawn not while standing, but sitting on a small chair or resting your knees on the mat. Use a comfortable and stable ladder when working on trees. Do not be lazy to climb it higher so that the fruits or branches that you will inspect or process are in front of your eyes. That is, you cannot throw your head back and reach up to the upper branches of the trees.
