The work of a plowman has never been easy. Of course, today many all kinds of mechanical, electrical and gasoline-powered mechanisms have been created that facilitate this work, but do not promise a cloudless life for the gardener. The most time-consuming process in the garden is considered to be the digging of land. Recently, a lot of magicians have appeared, claiming that it is not at all necessary to dig up the soil to get a good harvest. Let's try to heed their advice

To dig or not to dig?

There is no unequivocal answer to this question in nature. Indeed, in our vast country, gardeners are allocated a variety of land plots, the soil on which has a different structure and composition. It is clear to anyone that on a site with chernozem one can do without time-consuming digging, but only loosen the beds a little, because chernozem also has the ability to condense under the action of, for example, streams of heavenly moisture. If the soil is heavy, clayey, then without digging it will not want to accept the seeds, what a harvest there is! Such soil is not just mechanically shovel, but at the same time fertilized with humus, manure in order to "soften" its harsh nature.

The Earth on our planet is a living organism, you just need to take a closer look at it. Even on a plot with heavy soil, which was nevertheless dug up sometime ago (that is, it was not done without digging at all), you can grow vegetables, however, the harvest will be very modest. Can such soil be helped to become looser and more fertile?

Of course. For this, inventive people have invented many different ways. The easiest way is to buy a couple of cars of fertile humus soil, and to dilute these dry lumps of clay with it. But, the cost of such a purchase today "will cost a pretty penny", and the preparation of the "land mix" will require large physical costs.

There is a less expensive way, although it will require some labor effort. Well, there are no easy ways for a gardener, about which the catchy headlines of some articles shout. The soil disturbed by shovels when harvesting, for example, potatoes, should be slightly refined by breaking large clods with a traditional hoe. Then the Fokin flat cutter is used, with the help of which shallow loosening of the soil and leveling the surface of the obstinate area are carried out.

And again we take a hoe in our hands, which will help to make shallow grooves (two to three centimeters) for rye seeds. We sow a potato field with rye and admire the green shoots in September, when all our neighbors have black gardens like a moonless night.

Rye's delightful abilities

Rye is an amazing representative of the plant kingdom. In addition to the fact that the plant is famous for its unpretentiousness to living conditions and high frost resistance, it gives a person edible grains rich in vitamins, amino acids necessary for a person, solid fibers … that have a healing effect on the human body.

But rye heals not only people, but also the soil on which it grows:

* With its fibrous root system, capable of penetrating the soil to a depth of two meters, it frees the gardener from using a shovel, perfectly loosening the soil on its own.

* Its roots serve as a reliable shelter for insects useful for the soil, and, therefore, for the farmer.

* Rye does not allow autumn rains to wash out nutrients from the soil, but stores them in its roots, stems and leaves in order to turn into fertilizer for the soil in the spring, becoming the guarantor of more successful vegetable yields.

* Rye leaves no room and no chance for the life of weeds that like to reduce the size of the crop.

* Even various causative agents of diseases in cultivated plants, wintering in the soil, retreat in front of this plant.

Such a universal assistant, capable of reducing the labor costs of the gardener, as well as quantitatively increasing and qualitatively improving the harvest, exists in nature.
