In the middle lane, most jasmine species tolerate the harsh wintering conditions satisfactorily. During the acquisition of high-quality planting material, preference should be given to domestic varieties, proven over the years of successful cultivation. What options are capturing buyers' attention?

Russian selection

Of domestic varieties, the following are very popular:

Blizzard. Obtained by crossing a specimen of Glacier with a fluffy mock-orange. Differs in an average height of 1, 1 m. At the ends of 20 cm shoots are dense inflorescences, consisting of 7-9 buds, forming a four-sided bunch. In mid-June, a faint aroma of terry snow-white flowers, reaching a diameter of 4.5 cm, spreads in the air. The outer petals are wide, oval, slightly bent down, overlap each other, the inner ones are narrow, tightly stuffed. The flowering is so abundant that it completely covers the leaves.

Snow avalanche. The improved grade of Lemoine "Alavanche". The original variant had a reduced winter hardiness. Vekhov N. K. achieved an increase in this indicator by selecting seedlings. The plant reaches 1.5 m in adulthood. The branches cascade downwards, forming a real avalanche. The leaf plate is small. The buds are numerous, double, 3 cm in full dissolution, the edge of the petals is curved outward. Has a strong aroma of fragrant strawberries. Blooms in the first half of June.

Komsomolets. Created as a result of crossing French varieties Bouquet Blank and Glacier. Height of adult specimens is 1.3 m. Each branch ends with 11 pairs of long, strong flowering shoots extending from the main stem almost at right angles with a slight upward bend. Inflorescences consist of 7-9 densely doubled crystal white fragrant buds in full dissolution reaching 4, 5 cm. The outer petals are open narrow oval, the inner ones are narrow, gathered in a tight ball, studded with yellow stamens. Blooms profusely for 2, 5-3 weeks.

Dwarf. Obtained from the Glacier variety, by multiple pollination of new seedlings with its own pollen. The bush forms a "pillow" with a maximum height of 40 cm and a width of 2 times. The leaf plates are large, dark green, wide. Virtually no flowers. The shaping haircut allows you to create various shapes from the bushes. Looks original in curb use.

Variegated varieties

In recent years, variegated varieties, bred as a result of natural mutations of natural and cultural forms, have been very popular. Branches with an unusual leaf color were separated from the mother plant and further propagated by vegetative means.

Innocente. A wide spreading bush reaches a height of 1, 5-2, 5 m, occupies the same diameter. The branches are strong, the leaves are large, pointed at the top with a jagged edge. It is distinguished by dashed yellow irregular strokes on a dark green background. Flowers are snow-white with a diameter of 3.5 cm, very fragrant, cupped semi-double or simple, collected in an inflorescence, a brush of 5-6 pieces. Blossom in late June - early July. Winter hardiness is high. When planted in the shade, the leaf loses its variegated color.

Variegata. The height of an adult plant is 1.5-2 meters of a round, compact shape. It is characterized by slow growth, an unusual variegated large leaf plate (along the edge there is a wide creamy white stripe, the middle is a light green shade). In the second half of June, whitish-creamy, simple, fragrant inflorescences with yellowish anthers bloom. The winter hardiness of the plant increases when planted in a place protected from the wind with a high snow cover.

Aurea. The dense crown of two meters in height is distinguished by the golden color of the foliage, which turns slightly green by the middle of summer. Loses brightness in shady places. Simple white flowers with a strong strawberry smell bloom in June-July, collected in bunches of 5-6 pieces at the ends of lateral shoots. They stand out a little against the background of yellow foliage.

A wide range of nurseries allows you to satisfy the needs of the most sophisticated beauty lover. Varieties and hybrids number dozens of specimens of various bush shapes and the degree of terry inflorescences. It is not difficult to choose the best option for your site. Let the scent of a wonderful mock orange settle in your garden for many years!
