Selection does not stand still. In recent years, there has been a tendency to create undersized forms, 0.5-1 m in height, suitable for growing in limited areas of the garden. Miniature copies of large specimens fell in love with flower growers. Hybrids are very popular: Admiration, Aurea, Green Carpet, Orange Dream, Coronita, Bagatelle. Let's consider in more detail the characteristics of each variety

Admiration

The slowly growing bush reaches a maximum height of 0.5 m. The crown is dense, resembling a ball at a young age, then turns into an irregular shape. Faceted branches, brownish-red, short, studded with single thorns.

Ovate, small 2-3 cm leaves are bright red with a yellow edging along the edge, become scarlet in autumn. Yellowish buds appear at the end of May, scattered along the branches in single flowers. Shiny scarlet berries are fully ripe by early October. They decorate the bush all winter.

Resistant to harmful factors, frost, drought. Loves bright habitats.

Aurea

The dense crown of a broadly rounded or irregular shape grows slowly to a size of 0.8 m. Single thorns are located on greenish-yellow branches. Small leaves of a diamond-shaped structure are lemon-yellow in summer, orange in autumn.

Whitish flowers appear in late spring. Bright elliptical berries ripen by early October, remaining on the bushes in winter.

Practically not susceptible to the invasion of pests, diseases, winter-hardy. Prefers openwork partial shade. In the open sun, the leaves turn slightly pale.

Green Carpet

The variety was bred by breeders in 1965. Broadly rounded, with a slightly flattened shape, the bushes grow up to 1 m. They are distinguished by an average growth rate of drooping, faceted, black-brown, densely branched shoots with thin tripartite thorns.

Rounded, small leaves 2 cm long, light green in summer, by autumn they acquire a deep crimson color. Greenish-white buds are scattered on the branches in groups, appear at the end of May. Shiny pinkish-red fruits hang from late September to spring.

Frost-hardy, indifferent to drought, rarely affected by harmful factors. Loves sunny areas.

Orange Dream

The maximum height of the bush is 0.7 m. The spreading crown is 1 meter in diameter, consists of thin yellow-green branches with orange-reddish lanceolate, pointed at the ends, small leaves. In the cold season, they change color to bright burgundy.

Miniature yellow buds are arranged along the branches in groups, open at the end of spring. Oval, shiny, crimson berries ripen in early autumn.

Resistant to adverse environmental factors. Easily tolerates winter, openwork partial shade.

Coronita

Height of an adult plant is 1 m, width is 1.5 m. Cascades of arcuate, brownish-burgundy, faceted shoots form a sprawling cushion-like shape, characterized by slow growth. The root system is superficial.

Maroon, small boat-shaped leaves with a light green edge, transform into crimson-purple with the onset of cold weather. Yellowish flowers, collected in clusters or scattered singly on branches, appear in May. Berries are pleasing to the eye from October to spring.

Photophilous, frost-resistant. Withstands air pollution.

Bagatelle

Superdwarf with a growth of 0.3-0.4 m, a diameter of 0.8 m, with an annual growth of 2 cm. Dense spherical crown. Dark brown, faceted shoots are densely covered with shiny, leathery, ovoid, small 1.5 cm leaves. In summer, plates with a green, maroon, bright crimson color can be present on the shrub at the same time, they become even brighter in autumn.

Small yellowish-reddish flowers are collected in bunches or scattered in single buds on the branches, appear in May-June. Scarlet fruits ripen in October, hang all winter, decorating the garden.

Loves the sun, withstands partial shade. Resistant to harmful factors.

It is impossible to cover the entire list of existing varieties. Choosing 3-4 bushes, you can easily decorate your garden, add bright colors to the autumn landscape.
