There is such a concept when planning a summer cottage as a high garden or high beds. Many experienced gardeners consider such a layout of the site to be quite justified and reasonable. What are its advantages?

What is a tall bed?

A high bed can be organized both for a garden crop (vegetables, herbs, berries) and for ornamental plants (shrubs, flowers, and so on). This is an artificially fenced area in the country or in the garden, which, by raising its zone above the main ground level in the country, increases the practicality of growing various plants on it. Each zone in a high garden can be delimited, as it is convenient for the summer resident, to arrange in a special way, based on the requirements for caring for the next plant.

There are many advantageous sides of a high garden and high beds on it. Let's consider only a part of such positive aspects, although in fact there are many more of them.

Advantages of a tall vegetable garden

So, what do such separate zones in the country, high beds in the garden, separate areas of the lawn, front garden give? Among their advantages over ordinary low beds (which need to be dug up, processed, etc. every season), the following can be noted. High beds:

- independent of the soil at the dacha, as they can be installed in dacha areas where earlier planting of crops would have been impossible;

- suitable for growing any plantings: vegetables, greenery, flower garden, berries, shrubs, grass, lawn and others;

- allow you to completely change the composition of the soil in the country - this is especially good for individual plants for which the soils on the site are not suitable and they need to create an artificially different habitat;

- make it possible to organize an additional drainage system in a separate section of the garden, if the plant requires it, so that excess moisture is removed from the garden and the roots of the plant do not get wet;

- can be organized at the height required for the plant or on a special recess for it, they will not need to be constantly fertilized, cleaned of weeds, treated from fungus and insects;

- it is convenient to process, loosen, fertilize as needed, mulch, dig up;

- better than usual they are warmed up by the sun, they better perceive rainwater and with artificial irrigation, and do not retain it in excess;

- due to the optimal improvement of the growing conditions of plants, they help to achieve much larger yields than those obtained from conventional plots;

- a high bed allows you to achieve an ideal landscape for the owner of the site;

- allow seedlings, due to better warming of the soil by the sun's rays, to quickly take root in a new place and give stronger growth, good yielding and healthy fruiting;

- keep the soil on them in its original form for a long time, since it does not trample, does not crumble, does not become infected from the main soil in the country with pests and weeds.

You need to understand that in this article we are only listing the advantages of high beds and elevated vegetable gardens. Topics for how exactly to create such beds and at what height for each culture - you need to study separately and in more detail in order to do everything correctly and correctly plan the site.

The comfort of using elevated beds

We all cannot stop singing praises to a tall garden. Therefore, I remembered a few more "plus" moments and comfort from the use of such elevated beds in the garden and in the garden. A very important and rather significant advantage of a high garden is that it can be arranged at a height that is comfortable for your physical condition. That is, the way it would be easier for the owner of the garden to process this bed. There is a desire for the culture to grow right in front of you, at the level of outstretched arms - please. Or is it more convenient for you to lean slightly towards it? Again - and the cards are in your hands, as they say.

Make a high bed not in one, but in two, three or more tiers. Here is a visual increase in the territory on the site, and a more efficient use of its territory, an increase in yield, and so on. Such structures can be quickly installed, quickly filled with the required soil and even … transferred for the winter to a shed, to a hangar for winter storage.
