Isophia Crimean is a rather unusual and very beautiful insect, whose habitat is the southern coast of Crimea. It causes harm to a wide variety of ornamental and agricultural plants, but grapes and tobacco are especially loved by them. Of the fourteen species of isophia existing in the world, the Crimean isophia is the most beautiful
A few words about the pest
Crimean isophia is an insect with very short wings, 23 - 32 mm in size, light green or ore-brown in color. It is a representative of wingless grasshoppers. On the entire upper half of the abdomen, it has white spots, as well as two yellow longitudinal wide stripes on the sides and one black in the middle. In brightly colored insects, antennae are mostly black, while in green individuals they are yellowish. On both edges of the thighs, on the underside of the thighs, several small black spines can be seen. The size of the ovipositor in the pest reaches 13 - 17 mm. The eggs are large, flattened, wide and oval, dark brown in color and 5, 3 - 5.5 mm in length. The larvae are usually of the same color. Isophia inhabits Crimean meadows with deciduous trees and sparse shrubs, can even live on mountain slopes. The larvae of the pest begin to be born in the second decade of March. Sometimes adults can appear even in mid-May. They lay eggs in the soil in the second half of May or the first half of June in heaps of 5-10 eggs each. Eggs in piles are held together by insects with secretions of the accessory gonads. Their clutches are somewhat reminiscent of locust egg capsules. Isophia Crimean feeds mainly on broad-leaved plants such as tartar, goat, sweet clover and others.
Fighting the enemy
From the territories adjacent to the site, the grass should be removed as best as possible - without it, the pests will have a hard time.
Marigolds, cut and dried during the flowering period, can also come to the rescue. Dried marigolds are crushed, 1 - 2 kg of raw materials are placed in an enamel bucket, poured to the top with warm water and, having insisted for 48 hours, filtered through a filter. Laundry soap (40 g) is added to the finished well-strained infusion. Plants are sprayed with the resulting infusion.
Hot peppers can also come in handy. To prepare a decoction for spraying, you need to cut 1 kg of fruit in half, boil in 10 liters of water for an hour, and then insist for two days. After that, the pepper is thoroughly ground and filtered. The resulting concentrate is bottled (stored in a cool place) or used immediately. The recipe for the working solution for spraying: 125 g of the concentrate made in the above way is taken for 10 liters of water. You will also need laundry soap - 30 - 40 g.
An infusion of dope ordinary can give a good effect. During the flowering period of plants, their aboveground part should be prepared. Having ground it well, 700 g of the resulting raw material must be poured with ten liters of water and insisted for 12 hours. Before use, the infusion is first filtered, and then soap is added (30 - 40 g).
The infusion of garlic, which is taken 40-50 g, is also good, is poured with ten liters of water, everything is mixed well, insisted for a day, and then, after filtering, they start spraying the plants.
Tansy is also used in the fight against the pest (including rhizomes). 1 kg of a fresh plant, filled with 10 liters of warm water, boil for two hours, filter, add 40 g of pre-planed laundry soap and go to spray the plants.
As an insecticide, the use of celandine is suitable, just do not forget that it is poisonous. Plants are cut during flowering, and 10 liters of water are taken: fresh celandine - 3 - 4 kg, dried - 1 kg. The broth is infused for 48 hours, and then, as in the above-described broths, 40 g of laundry soap are added.
