Do-it-yourself construction of a brick house - many future summer residents are thinking about building a country house on their own. Brick buildings are very popular among summer residents.

Actually, brick can be called a classic material, because it is optimal for our climatic conditions. The advantages of brick houses include increased strength and long service life. In addition, such houses will be more resistant to fires and the destructive effects of various climatic and weather factors. At the same time, and in terms of cost, such a construction will not be very expensive.

So, the whole construction process can be divided into several stages. Of course, the place where the house will be erected is first selected. After that, the type of the house itself is chosen and its project is drawn up. Then the foundation, the brick and the method of its laying are selected. The final stage will be the construction of the roof.

Actually, if you have the necessary knowledge, all these steps are easy to complete with your own hands. If we consider the construction process in more detail, then, first of all, you will have to dig trenches or prepare a pit, which will be intended for the foundation. After that, the foundation is poured. Then you have to prepare a plaster mortar and lay the bricks. The next step will be the installation of ceilings, roofing and wall insulation measures.

As for the tools, they will require a fairly impressive number. Tools include a grinder, construction cords, levels, hammers, trowels, levels and plumb lines. Of the materials for the construction of a brick house, you will have to purchase, of course, brick, lime, cement, sand, plasticizer, reinforcement and roofing material. As a heater, you can use polystyrene or expanded clay.

Types of bricks

Today there are many types of bricks, but the most common are only two. The first of which will be a white sand-lime brick, and the second will be a red baked clay brick. Actually, these types can be used both individually and in combination. Combined options are most often used as beneficial design solutions.

As for the options for laying bricks, there are a lot of them. The most optimal seems to be the so-called well brick laying. In the middle of such masonry, a layer of insulation should be placed; in fact, such a system seems to be a good alternative to multilayer options.

There is also a special lightweight brick that will reduce the load on the foundation. Typically, the weight of such a brick is about twenty percent less than the weight of standard options.

It is recommended to choose bricks of the correct shape, the same, which do not have any cracks, all corners are intact, and the edges are straight.

What are the mortars for masonry?

It should be noted that today there are three main solutions for brickwork. This number includes cement mortar, cement-lime and lime. Each of these solutions is based on sand. The best option in this case is the choice of washed river sand, although gully sand is also quite acceptable. The sand has to be sieved to avoid the appearance of unwanted clay impurities in it.

If you choose a cement mortar, then three parts of cement will have to be taken for one measure of the weight of the sand. These components are mixed, after which water is added and stirring continues until a homogeneous mass is formed.

Today, the most modern method is the use of cement-lime mortar. Its preparation process coincides with the cement one, with the exception that lime must also be added. Lime is taken in the same quantity as the cement itself. However, instead of lime, many people use plasticizers.
