It is known that appropriate conditions are required for the operation of furnaces and heating boilers. Without oxygen, the combustion process is impossible, and harmful gaseous substances and smoke are released. A coaxial chimney is a good solution to these problems. It is easy to install, has a versatile effect, saves money and has a number of other advantages
Features of the coaxial chimney
Technological specialists have created a chimney that is suitable for boilers operating on various energy resources (gas, fuel oil, solid fuel), slow-burning furnaces, combined heating. The device and installation are different from conventional chimneys.
The coaxial system has an interesting design that combines simultaneously the removal of carbon monoxide through the inner pipe and the intake of street air to maintain combustion through the outer cavity. Accordingly, the pipe has a double sheath and consists of cylindrical conductors of different diameters with sufficient clearance. This design is unchanged along the entire length, including the connecting bends.
When buying, it is required to select a cross-section in accordance with the power of the boiler, the type of fuel, and the choice also depends on the tightness of the walls, climatic conditions with averaged indicators.
Advantages of a coaxial chimney
Thanks to the double-layer pipe, fresh air is supplied according to the counterflow principle, due to the temperature difference. This system has many advantages:
- guarantees efficient combustion, - contributes to the rational consumption of energy resources,
- ensures the safety of the fuel system, - eliminates the accumulation of carbon monoxide, - increases efficiency in gas boilers, - increases cravings by lowering the temperature of the exhaust smoke, - eliminates the risk of fire, - does not violate the integrity of the roof, - saves living space, - easy to assemble.
The design of the coaxial chimney prevents the pipe from overheating, therefore, when passing through the walls, no capital insulation is required. There is no need to lengthen the pipe for good traction. For example, for a gas boiler, three meters are enough, therefore, there is savings on pipes and insulation materials.
The advantage is the possibility of output in the wall of the house, next to which there is a firebox (it protrudes 0.5 m from the plane of the facade). This simplifies the construction process involving the rooms of the second floor and the roof. The rules for installation through the wall are simple: from the ground 2, 5 m, from the edge of the roof - 0, 6, from the window and corner of the house - 0, 5.
Chimney preparation and assembly
The pipe can be brought out through a ventilation shaft, through a wall or into a specially created opening. It is important that all prepared holes are completely the same in diameter, and that the fasteners are reliable. Before starting assembly, make sure that all items are present:
- adapter for connection to the fuel unit, - upper tip, - coaxial bends for horizontal outlet and vertical pipe, - flange for wall entry,
- connecting clamps, - cover plates for hermetic sealing of holes in the wall, - chimney, - condensate collector.
Coaxial pipe installation
When choosing a place to go outside, make sure that no sewage and snow from the roof will enter the air intake. In the room, place the outlet 1.5 m above the stove or boiler. On the outside, installation is foreseen with a slight downward slope (3-4 degrees) - this is an important point to ensure spontaneous drainage of condensate.
Experts recommend, before starting the assembly process, draw a diagram with the location and indication of all components, joining elements. Before assembly, you need to mark the exit on the wall. The hole is made 4 cm larger than the diameter, this gap is necessary for laying heat-resistant insulating materials.
The system is assembled according to the "pipe-to-pipe" principle, the fixation of the outer casing with rivets or self-tapping screws gives rigidity, the brackets hold the structure in an upright position. If there are obstacles in the form of a beam in the path of laying the chimney, the trajectory can be changed by installing an additional elbow, obtaining the desired bend.
In open places in the room, for safety, you can install a protective edging-casing. The hole in the wall is hermetically sealed and equipped with a special apron cover. If you have doubts about your abilities, then invite a specialist or a knowledgeable neighbor to collect and install the structure. In any case, a coaxial chimney will work better than usual.
