Flower beds of foreign resorts

A person is so arranged that he wants to look a little further than his own threshold in order to marvel at the overseas wonders of the plant world and try to grow something of them in climatic conditions that are completely unsuitable for these plants. Today, when the world has become so small and accessible for Russian tourists, let's see with them what grows in the flower beds of many resort towns located in areas where summer reigns all year round

Having visited several countries where winter seems to a Siberian inhabitant a little cooler than our hottest month of July, I met in the flower beds of resort cities along with exotic plants, some of which were familiar from book pictures, and some became a real discovery, a lot of simple and familiar from childhood plants. They feel great in eternal summer under the supervision of gardeners, who promptly remove faded or withered specimens, creating the impression of eternity and uninterrupted flowering of those plants that please at home some two or three months a year.

Marigolds from the Astro family

Marigolds have become very popular with us in recent years. Their variety of colors and a wide range of plant heights, as well as the smell exuded by the flowers, which, as it turned out, is able to scare off some of the worst pests of gardens and vegetable gardens, raised the bar for plant success. From undersized Marigolds, they began to arrange flower borders, plant tall specimens in front gardens and mixborders, or even create independent flower beds from Marigolds alone, building geometric shapes or intricate pictures from different varieties.

Marigolds turned into "watchmen" from all petty evil spirits for huge heads of cabbage and slender rows of potato bushes. Even the arrogant and voracious Colorado potato beetle behaves more shyly when the aroma of Marigolds reaches him. These are the marigolds that grow in the summer in the south of Western Siberia:

It turns out that Marigolds are also held in high esteem in warm countries, where they coexist with other plants in flower beds, cover the near-stem circles of tropical trees from the sun's rays, or stretch along the paths in a narrow or wide independent strip, bright, beautiful and fragrant. These marigolds grow all year round in the Nong Nooch park, which is located near the resort town of Thailand, Pattaya:

Petunia from the Solanaceae family

Petunia, a relative of Potatoes, Tomatoes, Eggplants, has taken strong positions in parks, gardens and summer cottages. Moreover, this undersized beauty can be found today in any resort town, where she equips huge areas of flower beds, spreading a solid carpet on the surface of the earth or lining up in even multi-colored rows, drawing geometric shapes. It fills the near-stem circles of trees, decorates sculpted garden jugs and bowls, or falls in colored "waterfalls" from pots suspended from cornices. This is the kind of Petunia that grows in summer in the south of Western Siberia, and all year round in hanging pots in the Nong Nooch park in Thailand or surrounding a palm tree in Al Mamzar Park, which is spread out on the hot sands of the Arab Emirates:

Other flowering plants of warm resorts

Many other familiar plants fill the spa gardens. Here you can find all kinds of Chamomile, fragrant Phlox of various varieties, ornamental Sunflower and ordinary Bindweed, which we have among the weeds.

Of the plants that you can find here only on the Black Sea coast, I would like to note Bougainvillea, from which gardeners manage to make the most intricate flower arrangements. Bougainvillea, if given its freedom, grows into a lush, branched shrub that is covered with bright and abundant flowering practically all year round. Moreover, the flowers of the shrub are very small, with white graceful petals, which you will not immediately find behind bright and large bracts. It is the multi-colored bracts that adorn the bush. But where the plants are watched by professional growers, the bushes are not allowed to grow, but they form all kinds of compositions from them. This is how Bougainvillea looks like in the courtyard of a private house in the Egyptian Hurghada, in the Nong Nooch park in Thailand, in the Al Mamzar park in the United Arab Emirates:
