Longevity of Buzulnik Przewalski (ligularia) directly depends on proper planting, crop care. The laying of perennial flower beds does not allow mistakes in growing plants. A high level of agricultural technology will keep the beautiful flowers on your site healthy
Varieties
On the territory of Russia, 3 varieties of Przhevalsky Buzulnik are grown:
1. Maple-leaved. The green, succulent leaves are maple-shaped, with a diameter of 25cm. Larger than the second option. The height of the compact bush reaches 170cm. Inflorescences of a rich yellow hue.
2. Rocket. Like a powerful spacecraft, two-meter red-brown peduncles, densely covered with yellowish inflorescences, rush upward. Thick stems do not need additional support. The leaves are round, heart-shaped. The edge of the plate resembles sharpened saw teeth. The shade from green summer color by autumn changes to cherry-raspberry.
3. Light Fingered. A modern variety with rich green, large, heavily cut leaf blades. Dark flower stalks end in bright yellow inflorescences that bloom in mid-summer. The bush is compact.
All representatives of ligularia look equally beautiful in flower beds.
Planting in flower beds
In early spring, they dig square-shaped planting holes with side dimensions of 40 cm. Set the distance between bushes to 1 meter.
An earthen mixture is prepared in advance, consisting of:
• humus;
• peat;
• sand;
• garden land;
• 0, 5 glasses of ash;
• 20g nitroammophoska.
Fill the pit. In the middle, a small depression is left for the seedlings of the buzulnik. Sprinkle with water. The bushes fall asleep flush with the root collar. The buds protrude 3-4 cm above the ground. Seal the top layer with your hands. Add mulching material (sawdust, straw cutting) to reduce evaporation. A peg is placed next to it.
Transplants during the active growing season are not desirable. As an exception, when receiving planting material, in case of emergency, you can plant in the summer. To reduce evaporation, remove 30% of the leaves in the lower part, cut the peduncles.
At first, moderate soil moisture is maintained. Shade young plantings with nonwoven fabric.
It will take a lot of effort to restore ligularia. In a month, the process of engraftment will end, the plants will begin to actively grow.
Care
During the growing season, they closely monitor the state of the earthen coma around the bushes. In dry periods, water is often watered, in rainy weather they do without additional moisture.
They are fed once a month twice with the complex fertilizer "Zdraven", "Ideal". In the fall, they give phosphorus-potassium components.
When growing green mass, tall stems are tied to a peg, protecting the plants from strong gusts of wind. Seed arrows are left on the mother liquors, on the remaining specimens they are removed after flowering. The carved leaves remain decorative until the end of the season.
Some gardeners argue that Przewalski's buzulnik gives abundant self-seeding. For 5 years of growing on my site, I did not observe such a phenomenon.
Getting your own seeds
When fully ripe, the planting material crumbles to the ground. Light gauze bags, dressed on spike-shaped arrows at the end of flowering, will help prevent losses. The readiness of the seeds is determined by the fluffy crests protruding beyond the "arrows".
Collected in sunny weather. Spread out to dry on the newspaper indoors. For autumn planting, fresh material is used. Long-term storage requires maximum moisture removal.
Finished seeds are placed in linen bags or paper bags. Indicate the name of the variety, the year of collection. Put away in a dry place with room temperature.
Knowing all the intricacies of growing Przewalski's buzulnik, you can safely start placing bushes on your site. During the first year, plants actively grow green and root mass. Then, for many years, they thank the owners with bright colors for their careful care.
