Fuchsia three-leafed (lat. Fuchsia triphylla) - a flowering plant from the numerous fireweed family.
Description
Fuchsia three-leafed is a low-growing shrub, the height of which almost never exceeds fifty to sixty centimeters. All shrubs are rather strongly branched and equipped with many short-haired twigs.
The opposite leaves of a three-leafed fuchsia have an ovoid-oblong shape and are most often collected in small groups of three to four pieces each. They are ciliate, serrated, sometimes whole-edged and always pubescent along the veins. The width of the leaves ranges from one to three centimeters, and the length is from three to eight centimeters. As for the color, it is usually greenish-reddish at the top and reddish-brownish at the bottom.
Small flowers of three-leaved fuchsia form spectacular leafy multi-flowered brushes. The length of the corolla tubes often reaches one centimeter, and the average length of the fiery red sepals is about one and a half centimeters.
Fuchsia three-leafed is a highly decorative species, therefore, it is characterized by a long and abundant flowering, which does not stop from May to September.
Where grows
The homeland of this variety of fuchsia is the island of Haiti, but now it is successfully growing in many countries of the world.
Usage
Three-leaf fuchsia hybrids, which were obtained as a result of its crossing with other varieties of fuchsia, are widely used to create spectacular floral displays and for decoration purposes. Such hybrids are quite widespread in botanical gardens, as well as in decorative floriculture.
Growing and caring
Three-leaf fuchsia is very hardy, so it is quite suitable for planting in the ground, but most often it is planted nevertheless in containers (especially for the Express and Orient varieties). And it is customary to grow such fuchsia in baskets, since it grows quite strongly in breadth.
This variety of fuchsia, like other species of this beautiful plant, needs diffused light, and in fairly large quantities. As for direct sunlight, their hit on the plant is allowed only in the morning and in the evening. And if there are concerns that the flower may be burned, you can periodically cover it with a light cloth or paper.
In order for the plant to grow green mass well, it needs an air temperature of at least twenty degrees, and in winter, the temperature can be reduced to five degrees. By the way, in winter, just like in summer, fuchsia also needs a lot of light.
Three-leafed fuchsia should be watered with soft water, the temperature of which should not be lower than room temperature. However, you should not overdo it with watering - the plant needs them only when the top soil layer dries up. With the onset of autumn, the number of watering is gradually reduced, and by the end of it they are stopped altogether. In winter, fuchsia is very rarely watered, but if the plant is kept at a temperature of more than ten degrees, then watering is allowed to be increased.
In addition to watering, fuchsia should be periodically pampered with spraying - for these purposes, soft settled water is usually used. In summer, spraying is carried out more often, in autumn - less often, and in winter they are completely stopped.
As for dressings, three-leafed fuchsia needs them from mid-spring to autumn - such dressings are carried out every fifteen to twenty days. Complex mineral fertilizers are best suited for these purposes.
