It is noteworthy that at the base of the leaves of the twisted basil, there are calloused ears. The flowers of this plant are white in color, however, sometimes such flowers can be slightly purple. Fruitlets are ovoid-elliptical in shape, while they taper rather sharply into a stem.

Under natural conditions, the twisted basil is found in the Far East, as well as in Siberia. The plant grows in nature on forest edges, in thickets of bushes and also in forest riparian and forb meadows.
