Blossoming of yellow basil falls on the period from June to July. Under natural conditions, this plant is found on the territory of Ukraine, Belarus, as well as in the European part of Russia, including the European Arctic. Also, the plant can be found in Central Asia, Moldova, as well as in Western and Eastern Siberia. The plant grows in riparian and riparian forests, as well as on forest edges, in thickets of bushes, in floodplains, marshy meadows with shrubs, and besides this, also along the banks of streams and rivers. The plant has very valuable decorative properties, and is also poisonous: the roots of the plant are poisonous.
Description of the medicinal properties of yellow basil
For medicinal purposes, it is recommended to use stems, leaves, roots, as well as yellow basil flowers. The leaves and grass of the plant should be harvested during June-July, but the roots of basil yellow are harvested in the autumn period.
The following alkaloids are found in the roots of the plant: talflavin, talikarpine, talflavidin, talikminin, magnoflorin, tallexin, cryptopin, as well as berberine or talsin.
It is noteworthy that the aboveground part of the plant contains saponins, organic acids, vitamin C, tannins, resins, coumarins, triterpene alkaloids. The fruits of yellow basil contain fatty oil, as well as the following fatty acids: lignoceric, ceratic, oleic, linoleic, stearic, arachidic, behenic, palmitic, isolinoleic, talitric, ranunculenic or aquilegic.
Basil yellow is able to have antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, sedative, wound healing, laxative and hemostatic effects. This plant is widely used in folk medicine. The infusion and decoction prepared from the roots of this plant should be taken orally for a variety of gastrointestinal diseases, for jaundice, for malaria, ascites, edema, fever, and also as a laxative for epilepsy. In addition, infusion, tincture and decoction of the herb are recommended to be used as a diuretic and laxative that can increase appetite, as well as rheumatic pains, skin diseases and epilepsy. As for a decoction of yellow basil leaves, it is effective in malaria as a laxative. Tibetan medicine uses the leaves of the plant to heal the tendons faster.
It should be remembered that the plant should be taken inside with enviable caution, because the yellow basil is a poisonous plant.
To increase appetite, it is recommended to prepare the following remedies: you need to take one tablespoon of dry chopped yellow basil herb for one glass of boiling water, leave the resulting mixture to infuse for one hour, and then strain. This remedy should be taken three times a day, one tablespoon.
