The Italian resin is a perennial herb, the height of which will fluctuate between twenty-five and eighty centimeters. The stem of this plant at the very base will be endowed with sterile twigs, while at the bottom it is fluffy, and at the top it will be sticky and branched. The basal leaves of the Italian smole will be elliptical, the stem leaves are spatulate, and the upper ones are linear-lanceolate. The flowers of this plant are located at the very ends of the branches and stems: they gather in three-flowered dichasia, and the calyx will be cylindrical, the length of such flowers is eighteen to twenty millimeters. The petals of the Italian resin are painted in white tones, the plates of such petals are incised deeper than half into oblong lobes.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the period from May to June. Under natural conditions, Italian smolens are found in the Caucasus, Crimea and Central Asia. As for the general distribution, this plant can be found in Iran, North Africa, Asia Minor, Western and Eastern Mediterranean. For growth, Italian smolens prefer shrubs, mountain meadows, sparse mountain and pine forests, rubble and rocky slopes.

Description of the medicinal properties of Italian resin

Italian resin is endowed with very valuable healing properties, while it is recommended to use the herb of this plant for medicinal purposes. Grass includes stems, flowers and leaves.

The presence of such valuable medicinal properties should be explained by the content of saponins in the composition of this plant, while the following flavonoids will be found in the aerial part of the Italian resin: vicerin, vitexin, isovitexin, homoorientin, adonivernet, orientin and homoadonivernite

This plant is endowed with very valuable analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties. It should be noted that an infusion of herbs based on Italian resin is used in some regions of the Caucasus for toothache, sore throat, laryngitis and stomatitis. Such an infusion is prepared on the basis of twelve grams of the herb of this plant and two hundred milliliters of water.

It should be noted that the chemical composition of this plant is not yet fully understood, for this reason, the medicinal use of the Italian resin is still incomplete. Traditional medicine claims that this plant is endowed with the ability to provide a calming effect on the nervous system, and will also be endowed with anti-toxic, anti-inflammatory, hemostatic and analgesic properties.

Tinctures, prepared on the basis of the herb of Italian resin, are indicated for use in various disorders of the nervous system, depression and depressed state of mind. As for external use, tinctures based on this plant are used in the form of lotions and compresses for various inflammatory processes in the body. In addition, it has been proven that the Italian resin will have a general beneficial effect on the human body.
