Highlander rough is one of the plants of the family called buckwheat, in Latin the name of this plant will sound as follows: Polygonum scarbrum Moench. As for the name of the buckwheat family itself, then in Latin it will be like this: Polygonaceae Juss.

Description of the highlander rough

Knotweed is an annual herb that will fluctuate in height between ten and eighty centimeters. The stem of this plant is erect, it can be either ascending or recumbent. Also, such a stem is branched and it is endowed with several swollen nodes. The leaves of the knotweed rough will be short-petiolate, lanceolate, usually they are also endowed with a kidney-shaped dark spot, which is located at the very base. The inflorescences of this plant will be apical and spike-shaped, while the flowers are painted in greenish or pink tones. In addition, such flowers are also endowed with a five-lobed perianth. There are only five to six stamens, and the pedicels and perianth are covered with yellow glands. The fruits of the highlander rough are nuts compressed from the sides.

The flowering of this plant occurs in the summer period. Under natural conditions, this plant can be found throughout the entire territory of Russia with the exception of the Arctic, as well as also on the territory of Ukraine and Belarus. For growth, this plant prefers the banks of rivers and ditches, as well as sandy deposits, wastelands, landfills and roadsides. Actually, this plant is a common field weed.

Description of the medicinal properties of the Rough Highlander

For medicinal purposes, it is recommended to use the herb of this plant. Such valuable medicinal properties are explained by the content of rough tannins, gallic acid and oxymethylanthraquinones in the grass of Knotweed. It is noteworthy that it was experimentally found that the plant is capable of exhibiting antibacterial activity against Flexner's dysentery bacillus. In some fear in scientific medicine, Knotweed is used for bleeding and constipation that occurs with hemorrhoids.

A decoction and infusion of this herb is recommended for bleeding, diarrhea, menstrual irregularities, hemorrhoids, rheumatism, pulmonary tuberculosis, as well as for aches, colds, eczema, jaundice, gout and as a diuretic. In Tibetan medicine, the roots in the form of a decoction of this plant are used for various gastrointestinal diseases and cholecystitis.

In case of cholecystitis, it is recommended to prepare the following remedy: for its preparation, take two tablespoons of crushed Knotweed herb for about one glass of boiling water. This mixture should be infused for one hour, and then this mixture is thoroughly filtered. Take this remedy in two tablespoons three times a day.

In case of tuberculosis, the following remedy should be used: for its preparation, take fifteen grams of crushed grass of a rough mountaineer per one glass of vodka. After that, this mixture should be infused for about five to seven days. This remedy should be taken thirty to forty drops twice a day, washed down with water.

With hemorrhoids, the following remedy is effective: for its preparation, ten grams of the collection is required, which will consist of this plant, plowed steel and St. John's wort, leaves of plantain, languid dryweed, chamomile flowers, bark buckthorn bark, horsetail herb for about one glass of boiling water … This mixture is infused for three to four hours, and then carefully filtered. This remedy should be taken half a glass three times a day.
