Diascea plants that have appeared on flower beds once want to grow every year. So their cascading beauty, unpretentiousness to living conditions, fascinates. How to propagate your favorite bushes? Find the right approach to caring for your "darling"?

Reproduction

Diascea is propagated in several ways:

• seeds;

• cuttings.

The first method is longer in time, but does not require winter storage of planting material. Used by almost all gardeners. The second option is suitable for the most patient. It requires certain conditions of detention until the new season. Not every hobbyist will be able to find the right storage space.

Let's consider each of the methods in more detail.

Seed planting

At the end of February, a loose mixture of garden soil and sand is prepared in a 2: 1 ratio. A drainage layer is poured at the bottom, holes are pierced. The surface is moistened. Diascea seeds are small, so sowing is carried out on the surface without embedding in the soil. They are only slightly pressed to the ground so that during watering they do not flow into one place.

The containers are covered with glass. Maintain the temperature within 20 degrees. The crops are periodically aired, lifting the glass daily for several minutes.

After 2 weeks, the first seedlings appear. To prevent the plants from stretching, the ambient temperature is lowered to 12-15 degrees. Arrange additional lighting.

They carefully monitor the soil moisture, preventing it from overdrying, waterlogging. After 2-3 weeks, the grown seedlings dive into separate containers. The ends of the shoots are periodically pinched for better branching. The bushes after this procedure become lush, the crown is thick. Ampel varieties are immediately transplanted into pots, flowerpots, so as to injure the root system less.

Cuttings

Stem cuttings are rooted throughout the summer, as the bush grows. For these purposes, you can use shoots from plants stored in winter in the early spring period.

Twigs 8 cm long are taken. The lower leaves are removed. They are processed in a solution of heteroauxin or dusted with root. Several cuttings are planted in a loose substrate in separate containers in one container, to form a lush bush. Cover with a jar or plastic bottle on top.

Monitor soil moisture. Landings are aired daily. After 3-4 weeks, new growths will appear - a sign of excellent rooting. They are pinched several times, increasing bushiness. The shelter is gradually being removed.

Landing in open ground

Do not rush to plant plants in open ground. Wait until the end of cold weather, return morning frosts on the soil. In the Middle Lane, the best time will be the beginning of June. They are planted under small film shelters in mid-May.

For 2 weeks, the bushes are accustomed to the conditions of the street. Expose the pots for several hours daily under the canopy of trees or shrubs. They are taken to the greenhouse at night.

Under the diascea, they dig up the earth on the bayonet of a shovel, remove the malicious roots of weeds. They form small pits, according to the size of the root system. Sprinkle abundantly with water. Transfer bushes from a glass. Sprinkle with soil, gently compact the soil from above. Mulch with sawdust or peat.

At first, in hot weather, they shade with paper bags or non-woven fabric.

Care

Diascea care consists of:

1. Regular watering. In hot weather, more often, in cool weather, once a week. Hanging pots, flowerpots need more attention. The soil in them dries out faster.

2. Formation of bushes. Regular pinching of the ends of the shoots gives additional tillering.

3. Rare dressings with complex fertilizers. The rate indicated on the package is reduced by 2-3 times. By processing plants once a month.

4. Removal of dried inflorescences.

5. Pruning shoots up to 15cm after the first wave of flowering, stimulating the regrowth of new branches with flower buds.

These simple techniques will help you grow beautiful, lush bushes with many airy inflorescences.

Indoor cultivation of diascea will be considered in the next article.
