At the moment, this culture has about three dozen species and about eight dozen hybrids. Not only flowers and herbs are grown in a room setting. A more interesting and original option will be a liana or those cultures that attract attention with their beautiful foliage, and not with buds and inflorescences. Anthuriums are those plants for which it is necessary to create the most comfortable conditions, as well as take care of it regularly and in a timely manner. Anthurium naturally grows in tropical climates, particularly in South America. Therefore, in home care, you need to create factors that are as close to tropical conditions as possible.

What temperature is needed to grow anthurium?

Any florist will say that anthurium is an unpretentious plant to care for. However, in order for it to please its owner with bright and dense leaves, it is necessary to create optimal conditions for its growth and development. Then the anthurium will also surprise the grower with flowering. Guests from a tropical area feel great on the windowsills of apartments and houses, and the temperature regime within twenty-twenty-four degrees will be the optimal factor. In the cold season, the plant needs fifteen degrees. But temperatures should be below twenty degrees only at night or in winter, when the flower is in a calm state. Sharp temperature changes for anthurium do not bode well, in principle, just like drafts or cold winds.

If you properly and competently care for the anthurium at home, you can reduce the chances of rotting of the root system, since the plant is usually located on the cold sides of the windowsill. In this case, the container with the anthurium planted in it is slightly raised or a heat-insulating layer is placed under it, the material for which is foam.

What kind of lighting is needed for anthurium?

In nature, anthuriums are often in the shadow of other cultures, due to which they are shade-tolerant at home. But the hot summer sun, on the contrary, is very harmful and undesirable for the plant. The best place to place an anthurium pot will be windows from the East or West. But it happens that the grower does not have the opportunity to put the pot there. In this case, on the south side of the window, you can try to provide the culture with the necessary conditions by creating a shade or removing the container deep into the room, away from the glass. If the summer turned out to be warm, then on such days you can sometimes take the flower out into the open air, but at the same time you need to protect the anthurium from scorching sunlight, precipitation and strong winds.

It is not difficult to understand that the plant does not feel well due to the excess of the sun. This is evidenced by brown burns on the leaves, most often starting to dry out. Also, a sharp drying out of the soil is often noticed. But anthurium can also suffer from a lack of lighting. The signal will be yellowish or pale leaves, as well as elongated cuttings. This phenomenon usually occurs in winter, especially if the plant is located on the north window. To avoid this situation, you need to create an artificial highlight. In addition, this will help the anthurium to move faster into the flowering period.

How to water anthurium?

Inexperienced flower growers often believe that if the plant comes from the tropics, then it should be watered abundantly and very often. But this opinion is wrong. Such improper care can negatively affect the plant, since it does not tolerate excess moisture in the soil. Anthurium belongs to the Aroid family, and such crops love measure in watering procedures. Excessive moisture addition and moisture deficiency are equally scary for a given flower. From an excess of water, the roots of anthurium can begin to rot, and sometimes the plant begins to suffer from late blight. It is for this reason that when moisture flows into the pan under the pot, it must be drained immediately. The soil should have time to dry out between watering procedures.

In such a situation, when it is hot summer time outside, and the room is heated, and besides, the plant also has artificial illumination, watering of anthurium should be more frequent. It's also a good idea to wipe the leaves with a damp sponge here. It will immediately become much easier for the plant to breathe, due to which it will delight its owner with an attractive appearance and its decorative effect.
