The carpet in the house creates warmth and coziness, this is especially true in the country. But such a comfortable design requires careful handling. An ill-bred puppy, sloppy guests, and even the household themselves can inadvertently ruin the soft coating. Stains and damage on the carpet are not a cause for panic, using proven methods and folk tricks, you can easily restore its original appearance

Removing odors

The pile of the carpet perfectly absorbs odors, especially of tobacco and kitchen cooking, over time transforming into a musty concentrated spirit. Use flour, talcum powder, starch, and baby powder to refresh the atmosphere in the room and remove unpleasant odors. It is necessary to evenly (through a sieve) "cover" the surface with any of the listed means. After pausing for a few hours, vacuum and there will be no smell. Baking soda with addition of nutmeg or cinnamon powder will help to add a noble-aromatic tone to your room.

Furniture marks

The rearrangement of the table, chair and other objects is manifested in the compaction of the carpet pile. Furrows, dents, caked marks can be removed with a fork and iron. It is advisable to use an iron with a steamer. Hold it over the problem area at a distance of a centimeter for a few seconds, and then comb the steamed fiber with a fork / toothpick. If you have a regular iron, then apply a wet cloth and, without touching, warm up the damaged area, followed by the same manipulations as mentioned above.

On carpets and upholstered furniture, you can apply the following methods to repair common damage. It is advisable to rinse the pile with clean water after any performed procedure, cover with a layer of paper napkins, cotton pads, cotton towels and leave under a press until completely absorbed.

Red wine stains

Freshly spilled wine can be easily removed by sprinkling with salt and wiping with a cloth dampened with soda. An old stain should be rubbed with a dishwashing concentrate (1 tsp + a glass of water). If necessary, cover the stain and blot immediately with a damp cloth. Treat stubborn stains with vinegar water (1: 3).

Juice stains

The prepared solution is rubbed into the stain and blotted with a napkin. Prepared from vinegar and washing powder (1 and 2 tablespoons), the resulting mass is dissolved in 0.5 liters of water.

Oil and grease stains

Corn flour and starch are ideal for removing fat deposits on the hairs. Liquid is not used in these cases. Only powder is applied, rubbed in with a brush (dry cloth), an additional layer is poured and left for an hour. Then everything is cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Fats can also be removed with shaving cream.

Tea and coffee stains

The toughest stains come from your tonic drinks. But if you immediately react and take action, there will be no trace. Drizzle with soda and blot. If you have not noticed the resulting trace and the time is lost, repeat this procedure several times or use a water-vinegar solution (1: 1), you can measure it with a spoon.

Ketchup stains

An old trace of ketchup cannot be removed, so a quick reaction is needed here and the exclusion of the possibility of absorption into the fabric. There is only one recipe - sprinkling with salt, holding for two to three minutes and cleaning with a vacuum cleaner. It is repeated many times until the signs of contamination disappear completely.

Gum on the carpet

The most successful and common method is freezing. Place an ice pack on the adhering piece. When the gum is completely frozen, clean it with a blunt knife or iron scraper, carefully picking up the formed pieces. If there are traces, repeat the procedure. Finally, soak a cloth in a solution of liquid soap and vinegar and wipe the original area, blot with a dry cloth. Do not walk on the surface until it dries.

They help to solve the problem of oil no less effectively: eucalyptus, peanut, olive. Keep in mind: After removing the gum, you will need to remove the oil stain. Lubricate the adhered gum with a cotton swab until it is completely dissolved. Then scrape with a blunt object in one direction, constantly removing the formed particles on a cotton pad or napkin. After removing the gum, treat the oily stain with a soapy substance (1 teaspoon dish liquid per liter of water).

You can replace the oil with white spirit, citrus-based degreaser, chemical cleaning solution and preparations containing methyl salicylate. All of these liquids are active against the polymer compounds present in the gum, block their stickiness and facilitate easy removal of the gum.
